I have an incredibly beautiful $150 scale for making coffee, the flagship product of a company that only makes coffee scales. they designed it so that it cannot withstand hot liquids. a coffee scale. specially designed for making pour-over coffee. can’t handle hot liquids. so it ships with an ugly rubber mat they explain you need to have on top of your beautiful, shiny white scale, every time you use it.

@maiab I asked my barista (Push X Pull in Portland, they’re the real deal) about this exact thing, since they run dozens of pour-overs on em daily without the mat. Apparently it’s no biggie whatsoever. Took the mat off and never looked back.

@andrew_pomeroy Was hoping someone would spot 😁 For me, it's kinda become a bad habit 😅 But, in some consoles, your messages get logged slightly different with an info badge. Also, in node based environments, different loggers can print different based on the method used.
