Fast forward to today, where the enigmatic allure of these scrolls captivated Luke Farritor. Through the Vesuvius Challenge, his innovative approach employing ML models managed to decipher the word ‘porphyras’ (purple) from an unopened scroll, bridging epochs with a single word.

The combination of high IQ and low ego is a really powerful one in business. Especially as you'll get into leadership role, IQ alone will deliver diminishing results. A famous fact about Sundar Pichai is that he was promoted into the CEO role not because he was the smartest person in the room but because without him it was getting very hard to get a group of very smart people to agree on anything.
Satya Nadella is known to call up select new hires and just listen without shaping the conversation or telling them what they are doing may or may not be aligned to the company mission. That's how he gets the real pulse of where the company is headed. When asked about his AI plans, Satya said 'I want people to know we made Google dance' -- what a beautiful way to pay respect to the competition while one upping them. I often wish more of our corporate leaders had this sort of old world class.
Highly underrated quality.
