Always a nice day when playing Portmarnock golf club. @PGC1894 It was surprisingly firm and fast.

Wesley Bryan should formally apologize after that performance on 18. Alternate fairway and then blows it into the grandstands for TIO during the Creator Classic? Are you serious? Extremely troubling stuff.

@MattGinella Play Ardglass, Portstewart and Castlerock. Skip Portmarnock and play it on the next trip with the Dublin tracks.

First, Happy Birthday. You’ll have a great trip. Those are true gems of the Emerald Isle. But…you’re driving right by a lot of other bucket-list experiences. You’ll spend way more time on the roads than on the fairways. It’s a classic mistake first-timers make when going to Ireland. And I know because I made it. Probably too late now, but I always recommend picking a quadrant and hunkering down/spoking out from one home base, which means less time in the car, less time packing and unpacking, and more time for the true cultural immersion in things like the restaurants/pubs, around the piano or sucking down some Guinness.✌🏼 That being said, if you’re moving around by 🚁, ignore all of the above.

Just booked Royal County Down for my 50th birthday trip... RCD Royal Portrush Portmarnock Lahinch Ballybunion This should be a fairly decent week of golf!

Can we discuss the guitar solo in @TheClash ‘s “All Lost In The Supermarket?” Is it genius? Rubbish? Rock&Roll excess afterthought? Did they lift it from a Pink Floyd outtake reel? Did someone get a new toy that day? A great band, albeit manufactured by music biz empresarios.

@ClubProGuy Arguably? When you win the US Am, Junior and a tour event you can compare your game to his….

@SProctorGolf @NoLayingUp Not sure its right for the PGA to be so over commercializing the event that we get 20 minutes of ads for every 40 minutes of golf and they don’t pay the players?

Another thing about Liverpool… these bunkers have really wide teeth rakes… might be tough to see with this video but the ball really rolls down to the crevice. It’s not plugged but def not a good lie ESPECIALLY if you’re in a fairway bunker. Auto 60 degree pitch out. They might change rakes but it’s something to note.

@mikeclaytongolf Wondering if the reference to The Country Club in Ohio is meant to be The Golf Club? Pretty excited to be on the way to Australia and playing 36 at RM on Monday! Timely list that gives Australia the credibility it deserves!

@golfcourses101 Love the 18th at Brora near Dornoch in the highlands. Stout par 3 finisher. Tough as you want it.

The 18th @ Pasatiempo has the rarely seen par 3 finishing hole, any other memorable par 3 finishers you can think of and do you like a par 3 to end a round?

@MattGinella I agree DJ is clearly one of the best players in the world but he's also stopped testing himself against the best players (outside the majors). Harder to measure when he's just competing against Cam Smith and a handful of second-tier and past-their-prime players

Captain Obvious: If your “Official World” ranking system concludes there are 40 people roaming the planet who are better at golf than DJ, you need a new ranking system. It’s not a ranking of the best PGA Tour players. Fix the system and you start to fix golf.

I’m sorry to the people who, in the fight for the soul of the professional game, declare LIV the bad guys and therefore the Tour are the good guys. It’s like being anti-Trump means I’m a bleeding-heart liberal. It’s not true. I vote for truth, sensibility and a greater good.✌🏼
Matt Ginella@MattGinella

I don’t root for Saudi Arabia, Norman or Trump, but what LIV has done is expose the Tour’s lack of leadership and a long-term vision for competitive golf. Both Tours are now top-heavy. The future continues to be neglected. Secure the pipeline or you’ll run out of fresh water.

@MattGinella Totally 100% agree with you Matt. Letting the pre-existing tours decide who gets OWGR points seems like a total conflict of interest. Using the point system to punish a budding competitor would seem to bolster the claims of anti-competitive behavior. System is indefensible

But what doesn’t make sense to me is an OWGR that doesn’t account for all professional golf in some way, shape or form. And it certainly doesn’t make sense to have a “World” ranking that is controlled by leaders of the organizations that already monopolize professional golf.

Wow! Incredible response to the idea the OWGR should/could be a catch-all for the “world” of golf. And that the system could/should account for 54-hole events, no cut, etc. Sure, the points could be skewed to reflect formats, qualifications, strength of field…all of it.

A friend just got invited to a trip to NYC/Ireland. 20 rounds in 16 days. PJs and Helis. Rough estimate: $25,000. Wife gave green light. They’re covering some territory.😳 My only suggestions: More Waterville, less Hogs, I’d double up on St. Patrick’s & butt-paste. Thoughts?
