The circular buffer is such an underrated data structure. B-trees get all the hype because of DBMS, I get it... But we should praise the circular buffer a bit more lol Memory pool allocation, packet buffers, IPC, and many OS abstractions are built on top of it.

Rule number 3 is specially important: "use your intuition to ask questions, not answer them". It's so easy to trust our initial guess and build an entire evaluation setup to prove our intuition instead of asking more and more questions around it.

@zehf I think it's Joel Spolsky (or maybe Jeff Atwood) who said an interesting thing about this. Something like "enterprise software is not about making a coffee machine, it's about putting a coffee machine in every room for 1000s of hotels and maintaining them".

We’re industrializing how software is made. I use “industrialize” deliberately. When you industrialize a product, you flatten it so it can scale. You want a Heineken to taste the same everywhere in the world, so you standardize. You lower the bar so everyone can hit it. That’s what’s happening with AI. I’m not judging this as good or bad. It just is. It happened with food, with fashion, with drinks. Now it’s happening with software. We’re entering an era of industrialized software production. We’ll have far more software than ever, but a lot of it will be average.
