For what it's worth my thoughts about current MPs is that they are jealous of the baby boomers. Yes, houses were cheaper for us but it wasn't easy to buy your own home, my wife and I like many others really struggled. What they see is many pensioners own their own home outright and they think because a house is worth maybe a million of two that they are wealthy. Unfortunately this isn't the case. A house maybe be worth millions but you cannot access that money unless you sell which in most cases isn't an option or release equity using one of the many equity release schemes which in my opinion is a bad move. Not only that by entering into such a scheme you are depriving your children, that's if you have any of their inheritance. Many will say that children shouldn't receive a windfall of a property but the house has been paid for, had many taxes paid on it and the government will receive in many case even more money via inheritance tax. Now it's payback time for these jealous, envious bastard MPs who have taken everything away from those who grafted, built and defended this country.

OMG newly elected Labour MP Peter Lamb says pensioners losing their winter fuel allowance have a “choice”whether to put the heating on. Yes, the choice is put the heating on and don’t eat – or don’t and possibly die. Is this the calibre of MP in this new Gov. God help us!

@MarkTodd_pol Really you want to play off not means testing a universal benefit for the most protected section of the country? Versus the economic reality of funding investment in other areas and tar our Labour colleagues who want to prioritise other equally/more vulnerable groups?

@MarkTodd_pol OK in good faith - you suggested those that abstained on a very controversial vote are food friends of your CLP, I would argue those that voted in favour are as well because the policy is sound, to disagree 2 months into a new Gov is bad faith IMHO

@MarkTodd_pol Likewise to suggest that Labour MPs that voted in favour are somewhat less virtuous - it's u comradery - and I think it's tough being an elected representative and to have red on red attacks is something we should try not to do - do you think MPs who voted in favour are bad?

When I was elected I indicated I would be transparent on the tough decisions. Today I will be voting in favour of means-testing the Winter Fuel Allowance. Please see my full reasoning below.

This is my MP #MelanieWard for #KirkcaldyandCowdenbeath Today, she voted with her London masters to cut the winter fuel payments. It gets quite cold at times on the east coast of Fife. Some of Fife,s pensioners I suspect aren’t going to make it through the winter..
