FULL CIRCLE…for me @Kings_schools as I’m subbing for a HS Teacher. As many know,I’m a HUGE ADVOCATE for “hand written” notes.Today, I saw this “letter of appreciation” by a former FB player to this teacher from 10 years ago! I’d say this note impacted this teacher!

@Matt_Pinner 20 4 20. I’m not sure I should be proud of that or not!? Born in ‘62!

@coachajkings Dabo spoke at an FCA event recently in Muncie, In. Wow…football aside, he is most importantly a man of God with an incredible story. So glad we made the 2 hour drive!!

Dabo Swinney shares the Gandhi quote that became the foundation of his program and why your beliefs determine your destiny.
"Your beliefs become your thoughts.
Your thoughts become your words.
Your words become your actions.
Your actions become your habits.
Your habits become your values.
And your values become your destiny."
"That's how powerful it is that you believe and you think the right way."
This is why you must guard your mind first.
If you don't believe you can succeed, you won't even try.
"As a man thinketh, so is he."
"If you think you don't deserve it, if you think you're a dog, if you think the world's against you - well, guess what? That'll become your words. That'll become your actions. That'll become your habits. That'll become your values."
"That'll become your destiny."
Choose where to focus because everything follows that.
"Your destiny is determined by what your beliefs are and what your thoughts are."
The chain is clear:
Beliefs → Thoughts → Words → Actions → Habits → Values → Destiny
Actions build habits and your habits build your identity.
It all starts with what you do, what you say, and what you think.

@ENQSports It’s was a showdown between Larry Bird & Sidney Moncreif!
English

@ENQSports I was a sophomore in high school. My best friend and I were “given” 2 tickets. We were the 1st in the area after the pep bands. Had no idea the location of our seats. We showed the usher our tickets. He said, “follow me gentlemen.” He walked down to Row 8, half court! #special

@CapitalU_FB @etwill21 @OhioStateFB NEVER stop learning. What a great opportunity to not only learn and ask questions. But perhaps even more significant, spending time “together” as “a staff”! Keep Chop’n! Time to kick in the door….. Go Cap!

The benefits of living in Columbus! Thank you @OhioStateFB for allowing us to come over for spring practice.

In the spring of 2010 I sent Lou Holtz a draft copy of LEAD…for God’s Sake!
I included a note sharing how my plans to write a typical leadership book had changed when I felt like God had nudged me to start over with a short story.
Although I had no clue how to write fiction, I listened…and God did the rest, pouring out a story that I could tell was way beyond my abilities to write at that time.
Knowing he got 100’s of these requests a year, I knew there was a slim chance he’d see my note, let alone read the book.
Nonetheless, on that Sunday, I remember specifically feeling compelled to pray that Coach would not only read the book, but that he would be so impacted by it that he would get back to me “right away.”
To my surprise…on Monday morning I got an email from Coach Holtz.
I figured it would be a typical form email explaining how hard it would be for him to read all the books that were sent to him.
Instead, it was a heartfelt letter that about knocked me out of my chair…
“Dear Todd,
Thank you for your note. As my son Skip always reminds me, if you want to make God laugh, tell him what your plans are.
I read your book and was very impressed; in fact, I wish I would’ve read it years ago as you make so many good points. I truly hope you have a bestseller!
Below is my statement on your book. You can use some of it, all of it, or none of it.
Best Regards,
Lou Holtz
“This is a book I could not put down. Every parent, Coach, manager and leader needs to read it. I wish I would have read it 30 years ago.”
I was in tears…
The fact he read the note and the book, and got back right away, in my mind, was an amazing wink from God.
About 5 years after that, I had the honor of sharing a ride with him to a speaking event in Ohio where we shared the stage.
An amazing blessing and honor…(and a bit intimidating too!).
Coach Holtz words of encouragement impacted me, and the journey around “Lead…for God’s Sake” in powerful ways I will never forget and will forever be grateful for.
Thank you and God bless you Coach Holtz as you rest in His embrace!

@TheSportParent @CoachKurtHines Works even better when the parent asks “that question”, your reply should be, “have your son see me so HE can ask “that question”.😉
English

Parent: "What does my son need to do to get more playing time?"
Me: "He needs to show up on time, know his plays, fight for reps in practice, be academically eligible, and give his absolute best!"
Parent: "Apart from that, what can he do?"

THE GIFT…from @SamaritansPurse thru my new Brother in Christ, a cattle farmer from Idaho, Shawn. He sent me a copy of “Kingdom Man” by Tony Evans. His question, “what does the devil say when you wake up in the morning? Does he laugh? Or does he say, “Oh crap…he’s up!”

@MorgaCallender @JoshuaMedcalf A great choice read, Morgan! “Lead for God’s Sake” by @ToddGongwer would be a great “next read” if you need one!
English

I recently read Win In The Dark by @JoshuaMedcalf and really connected with this..."You don’t shine under the bright lights. The bright lights only reveal your work in the dark."
