Hazard had retired from football in 2023 and Chelsea earned €150m from the deal overall. According to the Premier League negotiated settlement with the club Chelsea received no on field advantage from signing Hazard from Lille for €35m in 2012 and therefore a £10m fine was appropriate rather than a points deduction.

@fonforest I’m a Fulham fan and I agree. This is surely not what offside was brought in for? The issue is where do you call the line? Wherever you do there will always be very fine decisions. I don’t agree with binning VAR, and we’ve been on the wrong end of more iffy calls than any team.
