When I was in Medical school, GP training competition was <1.
It’s now almost 4.
15,000 drs competing for 4000 spots.

I would vote also that much of the argument on pay the last 2 years was that you are ‘guaranteed’ progression to more senior roles. Not any more. And remember, this is just the start. There are more bottlenecks at higher Reg level or CCT.

My own specialty training pathway (GP) was almost 4 to 1 competition ratio this year. Seemingly, the powers that be feel we have enough GPs.

Absolutely disastrous numbers and lays waste to government lines on wanting doctors to progress.
- Doctors wanting to become Psychiatrists faced 10 to 1 competition last year.
- Doctors wanting to become surgeons had a 5 to 1 ratio.

The planned regulation by the GMC of PAs will leave local employers to decide what exactly PAs will be doing, as with nursing associates. Another example here of why local employers can't be trusted:

This is getting silly now. Leave his kids out of it, and stop blowing things out of proportion. There is bad behaviour amongst some politicians, but this constant pearl clutching at everything undermines trust to an unjustified and dangerous extent. Try reporting some news.

@tomhfh I do back the nurses but at least with doctors, it’s not like for like. The 22% is over the 2 years. The 5.5% is just this year, so you’d need to factor in last years rise to be fair.

The stories about this Landlord’s homes are not surprising to anyone who lives or has lived in rented houses in this country. It’s a racket and any Landlord that spent a second thinking about their houses rather than just enjoying the (largely) passive income would know that.
