Why have I not installed @RoamResearch Hierarchy plugin before? github.com/dive2Pro/roam-…. Almost 5 years of disorder tamed. The homonym element is so useful. Obsidian with markdown and Claude Code is useful, but to discover and make sense of your thinking over time: Roam.

Cardiff cutting nursing and music… it will be interesting to see if other Universities in Wales cut courses, what courses they cut, and whether there is a formal agreement between theme to establish ‘strategic foci’, or similar, to reduce duplication. apple.news/AlzceReCxQeKJH…

@neuranne @Conaw @RoamResearch Same here. Tried all competitors and for quick entry and for emerging and maintaining “threads” it’s the best. It’s deceptive: I found that unique functionality is enabled by some of the ux design and structure, but this becomes apparent only after a lot of use.

Out of all the questions I could get asked, the one that keeps on coming back most often is: Do you still use @roamresearch? 😂 So, for the record: yes, I do! I use Roam every single day. It’s what I use to think about my research & writing across the board. And I still love it.

@christiandunn I first read “alligator surviving”… testing the waters, by getting students to jump in first.

In 1935, quarry workers at Porthmadog, North Wales were transported to the top via cable car. To get them back down to the bottom at end-of-shift, this no-energy way was devised [📹 British Pathé] twitter.com/historicontent…

@asmartbear @rcauvin @bosconference I’m aware of one or two consultants using/ referring to the model. It is useful for structuring workshops. Perhaps not so useful for everyday discussions within employees/ companies. I’m interested in why you think the nesting is not correct. Where do you see issues?

That's a hilarious and true way to look at it -- the "third why" is "why" and others have other names.... right... Yeah those words in the diagram could be useful, but the idea that they nest like that is not correct. Also I'm not sure there's such a distinction between e.g. culture and philosophy. I get it, maybe academically you can draw some lines, but practically I don't know anyone who actually thinks or works that way, which means it's probably not the right model or words to use.

@andygoodman @asmartbear @bosconference Taking an inherently relative concept and creating artificial and absolute distinctions doesn't reduce ambiguity. It increases it. It's like taking the Five Why's and saying the third one is the why and the rest are something else.

@rcauvin @asmartbear @bosconference If each party in a conversation has the same understanding of each term, then the communication will be improved by adding the additional terms. No? Inherently relative / artificial / absolute and the 5 why’s: I’m not entirely sure what you mean by this.

@asmartbear @bosconference I find the mission, vision, strategy hierarchy out forth by Vince Law and many others to ignore a key reality. Strategy lies on a spectrum. Mission is part of strategy. Vision is part of strategy.

Brought my family to York to see some incredible Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) around the @VangardeYork! This one has a mini birdwatching hide in the shape of a boat over it. Our daughters were so excited...! (Great example of making a feature of SuDS though.)

@moreisdifferent Could be paramagnetism, but it would have to be really, really strong, right? Those Pb samples are dense!

I was able to closely mimic the “levitation” behavior of LK-99 with a ferromagnetic sample. For comparison, see the original LK-99 video in the tweet below.

What is? What if? What wows? What works? Not this, @salesforce: 1. Offer interesting resource, 2. get my contact details, 3. provide a resource I’ve no interest in. Not an intentional bait and switch I’m sure, but not a great customer experience. salesforce.com/uk/form/conf/i…
