@tismemick @MartinSLewis What's a PAC? I'm with them too and although I'll never get the money back I lost paying them for nothing, if I can get any kind of money back I'll try it!

Doing your tax return? Are you a higher 40% (or top 45%) rate taxpayer who donates to charity via Gift Aid. The charity claimed tax back at the basic 20% rate, you can usually claim the rest back (& maybe then donate it too!) PS even if u don't do tax returns u can still claim

@MartinSLewis @itvMLshow Can you help figure out electric tariffs for people with solar and batteries but not an EV. A lot of cheap overnight tariffs are EV only and it's hard to tell which or get p/kwh figures for any tariff.

@godblesstoto @RachelReevesMP I only voted for the last lot because I thought these eejits would be worse. I wish I was wrong but Rach seriously hasn't got a clue. If you tax the biggest taxpayers more they will either leave the country or just not take any profits this year.

We had the fastest-growing economy in the G7 in the first half of the year, but there's more to do to build an economy that works for working people. At the Budget I'll take the fair choices to cut waiting lists, cut national debt and cut the cost of living.

@Bexbel @MartinSLewis First time I put a lens in I lost it round the back of my eyeball and retrieved it no problem. Optician was impressed. (gas permiable)

@MartinSLewis Ex-optician here. Men almost always have issues. Fainting, cack-handed & give up too easily. Women have far fewer issues. More adept at dealing with eyes.

Just had my third 'contact lenses lesson'. I finally managed to get a lens in each eye after much effort, though getting them out was hard. Still not good enough for them to let me buy the lenses. Did anyone else out there find it this hard!

We should start fining people for missing an NHS appointment without an evidenced reason, or cancelling in good time. It's rude, reckless and clogs the system up. If you agree an appointment, be there. If not, expect a fine.

@RupertLowe10 It would be better to have an appointment system where users can book their own appointments online or by phone at a convenient time instead of them making appointments for us. There would be far fewer missed appointments that way.

No trans identifying person has ever been banned from sport. They are simply not able to compete in a category they don’t qualify for. Non of this is complicated in any way what so ever.

@MartinSLewis FWIW the optician tried to train me to pull my top eyelid up. I tried dozens of times with no success. I pulled my bottom eyelid down as a test - it worked first time and easy-peasy after that. YMMV

I wouldn't ever want to be Chancellor for all the money in the world. Incredibly tough job. Impossible ask. Especially over the last decade. How do you try to piece together the mis-shapen, independent jigsaw pieces of consumer issues, business, the economy, bond markets, stock markets, job markets, world economies, tariffs, and more. People often lambast Chancellors as 'unqualified' but no one is qualified to do such a broad job. Ultimately it is a political role for someone with hopefully some understanding of wider economic, financial and consumer issues. We have to give some respect to those who try, even if we disagree with their decisions. As no one will ever get it all right.

@ajwmcs26 @EHRC I still can't work out what changed though as it seems to say the same as before the way I've read it. That facilities should be seperate for men and women or in individual lockable rooms.

@SportSEENuk @sharrond62 @BritGymnastics I would have thought that gymnastics is one area of sport where trans people would steer well clear of. A man can clearly run faster than a woman, but he couldn’t come close to achieving what a female gymnast could.

@sharrond62 Impossible to enforce, people will just use a VPN and pretend to be somewhere else. If they did manage to stop the legal sites people would probably start using illegal ones and see a lot worse content than they can on Pornhub.

Angela Rayner 45, grew up in extreme poverty & left school at 16. She rose to become Dep PM of the UK. Ms.Kuenssberg 48 grew up in an influential family, private school, university, & studied in Washington DC. She sank to being a Tory shill for the BBC. I know who I admire. ✊

How brilliant it would be to tell @BBCWomansHour @BBCNuala the sorts of things we heard from certain male students, considering the University of Leeds is transparently pandering to their feelings, rather than upholding the rights of female students. There are no single sex facilities at the University.
Maeve Halligan@MaeveHalligan

Not all young women are as captured by gender ideology as many people may think. Those of us who aren't want our voices heard @BBCWomansHour On Leeds University campus yesterday, @_ConnieShaw and I faced anger from people who were fully against our support of the recent UKSC ruling, and thus the sex-based rights of women, gay and lesbian people. Although plenty of those we spoke with were appreciative, respectful and engaged, many students and staff members were outraged at our presence and our desire to open the discussion, with frequent shouting of abuse and even demands we leave. After 6 hours of facing this, our signs and flag were eventually stolen. What's more, Leeds University still does not uphold students' right to single-sex spaces. All this reflects the dire state of free speech in universities up and down the UK. As young women and recent graduates, we are concerned and want to be part of the conversation @BBCWomansHour
