The juxtaposition of the story on the left “£1 billion a year to EU” with the one on the right “no money” for defence is a stark illustration of the Remainers’ delusional folly.

The Batman effect. A female experimenter, appearing pregnant, boarded the train. In the experimental condition, an additional experimenter dressed as Batman entered from another door. Passengers were significantly more likely to offer their seat when Batman was present (67.21% vs. 37.66%). Minimum wage should be £50 an hour. Everyone could shop at Waitrose. Young people could finally buy £1.5 million houses in Surrey. Prosperity for all. One brave politician could change this country forever. 🇬🇧

@kevin_jordan__ I have significant ADHD, but my superpower is finishing what I start. When I start a code project, I'm not done until the documentation is, and that's non-negotiable.

"Overwhelming evidence".... “Cross-examination is the greatest legal engine ever invented for the discovery of truth.” John H. Wigmore, quoted in Lilly v. Virginia, 527 U.S. 116 (1999) "An indictment is not evidence." Basic jury instruction given to all juries at the outset of every federal criminal trial.
Roger Parloff@rparloff

The immunity ruling was reported correctly. There was overwhelming evidence that Trump had committed serious crimes. If a sycophantic @DAGToddBlanche had tried to indict Biden on seashell-grade charges, grand juries, petit juries, & judges would've intervened as normal.

Allow me to rock your world. America has about 6000 hospitals. 5121 of those are publicly accessible and 1224 are completely free. That's twice as many charity hospitals as Canada has Tim Horton's. Literally. Then, when you see a doctor, the doctor speaks English and went to school somewhere you've heard of. Harvard is not the only way to get educated, but it is nice in the fall. We don't push people into medically assisted suicide for cost reasons. We don't ask people with emergency conditions to sit in the ER for 10 hours before they see a doctor. So yes, if you have a cutting-edge disease and you go to a private hospital and get the best care in the world, you're on the hook for it. But note that you are also ALIVE.
Mark Slapinski@mark_slapinski

People say Canadian healthcare is not free, because we pay taxes for it. But in America, people pay taxes and still have to pay for healthcare out of their pockets. And if they are broke, the hospital tells them to go die.

Here's the difference. "Trump" is a family-owned business that has been a family-owned business for 60 (?) years. It had a multi-billion dollar valuation before Donald Trump took office. It is currently run by other family members. "Biden" had no family owned business, and it had no value before he took office. Yet family members made millions expressly trading access to influence, and concealed everything they did through cutouts and off-shore banking. Bill Clinton had pretty much ZERO personal financial wealth when he ran for President. Today he is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Same for Barack Obama. Yes, being President creates money-making opportunities. "Same as it ever was."
Melanie D'Arrigo@DarrigoMelanie

I’m old enough to remember when Fox News threw tantrums and Republicans called for endless hearings when Joe Biden received a $40,000 loan repayment check from his brother. Trump has made over $4 billion from various grifts and shady deals, from just his second term.

🚨Labour’s Renters Rights Act backfires spectacularly — landlords are dumping properties due to the avalanche of red tape, tightening the rental market and pushing rent higher. Classic socialist thinking with zero awareness of the consequences.
