Designers love to see themselves as facilitators, and this is indeed an area they excel at. However designers regularly shy away from sharing opinions. Often worrying that they're not "researched based". As such, they're often seen as people who extract rather than add value.

How do others feel about this? I think there’s more to it than “your work is bad”. I’ve seen incredible design work yet picked up on other red flags (not able to talk about the process or objectives etc) that ended in rejecting the application, so this advice seems 1 dimensional?

Hard truth for designers: If you’re not getting responses from applying to a bunch of open roles, it’s because your work is bad 🚩🚩🚩 Hiring managers/recruiters make split second decisions, so if your work isn’t serviceable at first glance they’ve already moved on.

About to test some new content patterns. Good benchmarking can do some of that sweet advocacy content teams need. I’ve picked crap metrics in the past and stakeholders shrug like ‘wtf is a bounce rate’? Give the boss a reduced time-on-task and you’re onto something.
