Been an eventful couple of seasons with some lows but incredible highs. Proud to be leaving the club back where it belongs in the EFL & on a personal note winning managers player of the year in my first year been an absolute pleasure. Ready for what ever comes next 🙏🏽💙⚽️

@FergiesRightRef @TelegraphDucker Fergie had about five times more money than his rivals and so could develop a team like he did. Which coincidentally is the same advantage Bayern and PSG enjoy. And despite that he still needed to kick Wenger's Arsenal teams off the pitch. Fergie can piss off into oblivion.

@TelegraphDucker The point is that football should be like this. It used to be like this during the Fergie days. Now, the premier league is corners and throw ins. Physical specimens with ZERO technique are being prioritized over technical players. Turning a blind eye to it doesn't help.

Weird PSG-Bayern being used as a stick with which to now deride everything about PL. How many teams across Europe have attacking approaches that good? Been a hard watch season in PL as a lot of the last one was but it’s hardly been an entertainment free zone down the years

@godblesstoto @gracehoward394 Is it though? What she seems to say is that compelling someone to engage in that speak is the problem, along with the repercussions of conflating sex and gender. Even in that passage she is talking about someone telling her what to say.

Here's how I see it. JK Rowling has stated that she refers to a male friend of hers as 'she' and 'her'. A bunch of people calling themselves 'GC' have kicked off at anyone criticising her for this. JK Rowling herself has stated in the past that 'it starts with a white lie' and ends with women being made to give away their rights. So I don't think it's unreasonable or 'Ultra' in the slightest to feel disappointed that Rowling herself commits to this 'white lie' in her private life. Should she be ostracised for this? No. But I don't think it's fair or even rational to label those calling her out on this as 'absolutists' etc. This isn't a religion. JK Rowling isn't the Pope of the TERFs. She's not infallible. I can still respect her. I'm just confused by her seemingly contradictory behaviour. She once posted on here that calling a man by female pronouns is 'betraying your fundamental beliefs' to make a man happy. So I don't understand why she would do this herself. A man doesn't 'earn' female pronouns by being nice. It makes no sense to me. This isn't about compelled speech (pretty certain that nobody could compel JK Rowling to do anything she didn't want to😂). It's not about 'purity tests'. The bottom line, to me in any case, is that men can never be women. Women can never be men. There are no increments to this. There's no nuance. We can't afford to think: 'oh well he's very female-coded so he gets a pass for female pronouns'. I don't think this is a 'purist' stance. It's understanding the need to steadfastly recognise reality and retain consistency in an issue that is fundamental, and ultimately affects us all.

@_morgan_bruce @loud_MM91 Latics recruited well given our late start so it maybe seems less of a jump, + almost our entire squad was out of contract so we had a blank slate. Our squad last year would have struggled badly. That said, plenty of good NL players are good enough (e.g. Pett, Monthe, Robson)

@loud_MM91 I think its cause no one has gone down. But it feels quite a simple take that doesn't consider squad turnover after getting promoted

@elliott_hardman @talkSPORT I have read everything you've said, and I don't agree 😂 You say it should be a privilege and it should be hard to earn being an EFL club but I'm contending that with that comes a responsibility to offer something to the league you're in. And there are plenty of clubs that don't

@andyvanboom @talkSPORT Mate… have you read anything I’ve just said? With all due respect, for the third consecutive time, club size and fan base is irrelevant to the system of promotion. Similar things happen much further down the divisions yet they don’t complain because it’s an effective system👍🏻

@elliott_hardman @talkSPORT Being in the EFL should be special, which is why I'd like to see proper clubs in it. Are you honestly saying that you find it more special when some tinpot team turns up with 50 away fans, because they perpetually finish 22nd and are hence a league club?

@andyvanboom @talkSPORT Christ mate, just a load of waffle that. I’ve already said that size of clubs and fans isn’t relevant to the fact that they’ve earned their way into the EFL. Through the proper way. Being an Oldham fan myself and you being one should understand that the EFL is special?

@elliott_hardman @talkSPORT 52k watched the playoff between us and Southend. There are clubs up the pyramid where you couldn't get 52k if you had four or five of them playing at the same time. Increasing up and down refreshes the league and enables better teams to be where they belong.

@elliott_hardman @talkSPORT Different club. Crowds up, selling out away ends everywhere in the country. Us being stuck in the NL for years would drain that momentum and instead of us you would have a succession of clubs like Salford, who can't take more than about 800 to a big game against a local club.

@Oldham_Mark @dan_taylor12 And that's what I don't think the Uggla's get. The jeopardy of finishing miles ahead and not going up is a feature, not a bug. The arguments they should advance are that zombie clubs are circling the L2 trapdoor (as we were under AL) and contributing nothing in fans or quality.

@Oldham_Mark @dan_taylor12 I guess, although you might have seen multiple different instances of it in the past with other games, right? The argument for 3up is not the quality of the top two versus sixth and seventh, it's the relative improvement that you would get in L2 with some of those clubs back in.

This Saturday’s game brings an end to one of the most thrilling, exciting and unpredictable title races in football history. Both ourselves and Rochdale have the chance to write our names in National League history. The National League is no longer a non-league competition. It is effectively a League 3, with fully professional clubs operating at a level equal to or higher than many of those in League 2. We both understand how important this game is to both clubs and supporters. We both pledge now that whatever happens tomorrow, we will both continue to fight for 3UP. Both clubs sit on over 100 points. One of us will have to fight once more in the National League Play-Offs. However, we both strongly believe that this shouldn’t have to be the case. We call on the National League, Football Regulator, EFL and Premier League to come together immediately and resolve this issue, so that we do not have to highlight this injustice year after year. For both sets of supporters attending the Crown Oil Arena this weekend, we say thank you for being with us all season. The passion you’ve shown for both clubs has been felt across the world. This game will be seen far and wide. We want to showcase this league for all its potential. Keep your support in the stands, not on the pitch, and let’s all protect the game we love. Thank you! Rochdale AFC & York City FC #YCFC🔴🔵

@TagVinZant @LizWolfeReason On the contrary though pal, there are a huge number of people who do this kind of thing and still end up with adverse consequences. What if the baby's head is too big for the woman's pelvis? Who "made their own luck" there?

That’s fundamentally untrue. There’s so much research to support better prenatal choices equaling better outcomes. If anything, he’s not over-optimizing as much as he is debunking what we’ve blindly accepted as the general advice from the medical industry. And to say that his and his wife’s choices would’ve had no impact on the birth outcome is a ridiculous sentiment.

It is very tempting, if you've had good luck and n=1, to act like your virtue and prudence and optimization are responsible for your good outcomes. I am 29. I've had 4 pregnancies. I have 1 living, healthy child. I dispute that one can optimize their way through parenthood.
