I don't understand why it's incumbent on me, a citizen of the United States, to not call the US Supreme Court partisan? It's incumbent upon the US Supreme Court to prove to the people that they are not partisan every single day, and they have FAILED that test.

It sucks when your candidate loses a contentious primary, but any Democrat willing to reelect Susan Collins, and allow the Republicans to keep Senate control at this specific moment in history, should never work in politics again.
Politics & Poll Tracker 📡@PollTracker2024

#MaineSenate Bangor Daily News: Janet Mills’ inner circle reluctant to join Democrats in rallying behind Graham Platner In recent days, Ben Goodman, Mills’ press secretary in Augusta, has shared several posts on his personal X account in recent days suggesting he’s unlikely to cast a ballot for the insurgent candidate who outpolled Mills for months. Former Maine Democratic Party Vice Chair Peggy Schaffer, who in March appeared in a Mills ad targeting Platner’s old Reddit posts, said she’ll vote for Janet Mills in the June 9 primary. She’ll vote for Platner if he’s the nominee, but she’ll be holding her nose “like eating peas.” bangordailynews.com/2026/05/12/pol…

Everyone’s stopped talking about it for some reason, but the defense of Minneapolis was the most seismic victory against Trumpism. That was supposed to be the blueprint for their autocracy and it was defeated and humiliated by astounding collective action from ordinary Americans.

Not just ethically and morally wrong but politically stupid as well. Where I live climate change has already led to far more uncomfortable weather, increasing damage from storms, unpredictable seasons. No one wants this! If it’s an “elite” issue that’s a failure of politics.
Matt Huber@Matthuber78

Hello, it’s me in @nytopinion. The Democratic Party is historically unpopular & hemorrhaging working class voters. Focusing on the issue of climate change —an issue mainly impt to their educated/affluent base—is not a way to reverse this. This marks the end of an era. 👇

Basically if you are a Liberal you must strictly abide by the rule of law at all times and be cordial and never lie and be 100% moral and have a squeaky clean record and if you're a conservative you can do whatever the fuck you want whenever you want and nothing matters

🚨BREAKING: In a 4-3 ruling, the Virginia Supreme Court has OVERTURNED the redistricting referendum approved by voters last month that could have netted Democrats 5 additional House seats. The court ruled the General Assembly violated the Virginia Constitution in advancing the amendment, nullifying the referendum entirely.

Minnepaolis police only make an arrest in 1.2% of auto thefts, meaning you have about a 99% chance of getting away with stealing a car in Minneapolis. There’s not even a unit assigned to auto thefts in MPD. Mayor Frey is in charge of public safety, but he ignores major issues.

FBI Director Kash Patel explains how the criminal investigation into James Comey’s seashell post wasn’t a simple one: This has been a case that's been investigated over the past 9, 10, 11 months. These cases take time. Our investigators work methodically

Trump himself has cultivated low civic trust. It’s unusual for the Secret Service to have this many breaches. The govt is not forthcoming with information or investigations afterwards. And Trump habitually tries to use these incidents to advocate for unrelated, unpopular things. In that environment, conspiracy theories can spread quickly.

Serious question Why is literally half the internet saying Saturday's attempted assassination on Trump was 'staged'?

I think it might have to do with the key selling point that tech CEOs won't shut up about is, "AI will replace every single job and we will control every aspect of your broke ass lives." Turns out "you will be a slave" is not a good pitch to get people on board with your product

i do not care if Trump's comments result in nothing tonight. no one who even thinks of saying the phrase "a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again" should be allowed to operate an ice cream stand, nevermind the most powerful office on the planet

I think people freak out about Houston because no one wants American abundance to look *like that.* Everyone is hoping that 21st-century abundance can do better than Houston-style sprawl I am so fascinated by the late 19th century and early 20th century in Europe because they were dealing with a lot of the same urban housing pressures that we are, and they dealt with them by applying a very smart building code. This code allowed builders to go up five or six stories, build to the property lines, but they had to build with masonry and they had to leave the rear part of the lot open for a courtyard. This code helped these cities to grow by hundreds of thousands over a short time span. And the buildings were beautiful and livable, and are still standing today and are accounted some of the most valuable neighborhoods on the planet
M. Nolan Gray 🥑@mnolangray

It's funny, Houston is this supernova of growth, the rare place in the US that is absorbing millions of domestic and international migrants and making them richer, but if you say anything nice about it, e.g. maybe non-zoning is fine, people have a meltdown.

There is something rather irking about our leaders letting our countries become more and more car dependent over time, and then "begging us to catch the train, bus or tram to work" as soon as their wars make the price of oil spike up.
