On a more hopeful note, civil society resistance matters. Groups like @AnimalJustice have successfully pushed back against the adoption of ag-gag laws.

Biosecurity was the biggest justification for ag-gag laws, but Cdn whistleblowers have never spread zoonotic diseases in this manner. The very design of overcrowding in mainstream animal agriculture has led to outbreaks of infectious disease, as we're seeing with bird flu today.
