Everyone, meet Chunky McChunkface. This 34g #dormouse recorded today is just 4g off our heaviest ever #dormouse but still some time left to put on a bit more weight..he might not fit in the box though if he does 🤣 He deserves to be idolized around the #world @NottsDormice @PTES

@Skull_Bloke Thanks Ric. I did see 3 species of deer in the woodland during my visit, muntjac, roe, & fallow. The bone looked more alien 👽 to me, but I'll give your deer 🦌 the benefit of doubt 😊

@angelicus73 Hi Lorna, looks like the cranium of a small female deer, likely roe but can't rule out muntjac without checking my reference collection.

The water storing capabilities of #HimalyanBalsam is astounding. Very satisfying to watch it glug glug glug immediately after pulling. No more need for plastic water bottles, just arm yourself with a balsam plant or two 🤣🤣 #invasivespecies

Is this raw #sewage in the river Trent at Stoke Bardolph? Many wet wipes too. Has there been a discharge? Not what you want to see on a walk along the river on a hot day @EnvAgency @stwater

Moments before the cut, bees & hoverflies dance around the flowerheads as further along the bank the metal dragon churns up the wet grass & wipes out the minuscule communities that shelter within its depths. Nonsense management. @EnvAgency #ColwickPark #destruction

The grasses were also just beginning to flower. Rich in #insect life. Forage for the #birds & their chicks. Did you give a thought to nesting mallards? Now all that is left is a desert wasteland. Why? Will the tall grasses restrict flood alleviation? I think not. So why?

Why @EnvAgency do we need to be turning flood banks into lawns? Yesterday, the Colwick banks were awash with colour, pale pinks of Lady's smock, yellows of dandelions & buttercups, blues of speedwell & whites of early flowering cow parsley #ecologycrisis #naturedeficit
