Had a busy last week in London, UK training University Leaders to help them do their work as University administrators more efficiently. We had great and experienced trainers from UK and Kenya. I had a chance to give my experiences and factors that made us transform Kenyatta University to the extent that we did. We talked about Leadership Growth Mindset, Resource Mobilisation Strategies and Funding Culture, among many other topics related to University Governance and Leadership. The participants were happy and planned to do things differently and create impact in their areas of jurisdiction. I plan to continue with these trainings under the Centre for Innovative Leadership & Governance (CLIG), a training vehicle I created 10 years ago.

Across Africa, over 900 million people still rely on biomass fuels, exposing women and children to harmful household air pollution every day. This is not just an energy challenge; it is a health, environmental, and gender equality issue that demands urgent and collective action. In Kenya, we are taking bold steps to accelerate the transition to clean cooking—from modernising school kitchens to integrating clean energy solutions into affordable housing. These efforts are ensuring that families can cook with dignity, safety, and efficiency, while also advancing climate action at the household level. Through @Joyful_Women Organization, women are at the forefront of this transformation—leveraging table banking to access clean cookstoves and fuels, while creating new economic opportunities within their communities. Clean cooking is proving to be a powerful pathway to women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihoods. We convened in Freetown for a high-level policy dialogue on clean cooking, gender equality and child protection, and marked the launch of the ECOWAS LPG Programme—calling for bold leadership, scaled solutions, and united action to end energy poverty and secure a healthier future for women and children across Africa.

Later this evening, we Joined family and friends at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Ngoingwa, Thika, Kiambu County, for the requiem mass of the late Consolata Wanjiru Mwaura, mother to Anthony Mwaura, Chairman of KeRRA. May the Lord grant her eternal rest and may her family find comfort in a life well lived.

Says he's always dreamt of being a lawyer but keeps having to drop out cos of fees etc. I toy with the idea of hiring him, paying half his salary to the uni..and the other to him..

I visited my colleague, Cabinet Secretary @davis_chirchir, Commissioner Reuben Chirchir, and the wider Chirchir family to convey my condolences following the passing of their father, Mzee Edwin Koech. It is a heavy loss. I stand with the family at this moment and keep them in prayer. May Mzee Koech rest in peace.
