Can a nerd explain detroit’s defensive advantages over the cavs? Is it gonna be worse or better than Toronto cuz det was a top 2 defense while toronto was 5 but ppl are acting like detroit is easier and idk why

Underrated aspect about playing the Pistons is you can afford to do this.
Allen guards Duren.
Mobley guards Ausar.
Wade guards Cade.
Mitchell on Robinson.
Harden on Tobias.
Could also just flip Harden and Mobley if Tobias starts to cook.

@BazzanaSavant @susdcal7 @HsgvensSon Thing is Detroit has Javonte Green, Ausar, and Ron Holland who are all top tier perimeter defenders. Ron didn’t get much burn last series because of matchups but he may get more here. Also, Stewart switches onto the perimeter well

Ausar is great, but unlike Toronto, Detroit has weak points. Tobias and Duncan can both be exploited on the perimeter

@luuwill__ @Ronzopleaj @Tony_Pesta Stew will def switch onto the guards, Duren ehh…But I expect Duren to dominate the boards and paint much more than he did in round 1. Also, I think Paul Reed’s ball pressures off screens will really impact Harden

@Ronzopleaj @Tony_Pesta pistons are not a better version of toronto, only thing in common is physicality tho....theres no way duren/beef are comfortably switching onto spida/harden everytime. yall got the bigs to actually compete on the boards in a way we couldnt

I know Ausar Thompson is a great defender, but he'll have huge shoes to fill after what Scottie Barnes did in R1
Seriously, that was one of the most impactful defensive performances I can remember. His motor was insane, and he made virtually zero mistakes

Gonna be massive in Cavs series too.. put Ausar on whoever is hot between Harden and Spida… Harden draws fouls like his no other. Ausar gotta stay disciplined.
