Recently, Thursdays have become something I truly look forward to just me, my table, & @yntpdotme, @nirudhuuu teaching and motivating us to be productive.
Had so much fun in You Don’t Know JS lecture because we honestly didn’t know much of it before today’s session!!

Couldn’t keep up with the weekend Cohort lectures due to college exams but I won’t let the backlog stop me. Will be completing all blogs, labs and pending lectures soon! Agar mentors @Hiteshdotcom @piyushgarg_dev @nirudhuuu & @yntpdotme jaise ho toh demotivation isn’t an option💪🏻

Exactly one month ago, I began my journey with @Hiteshdotcom, @piyushgarg_dev, and @ChaiCodeHQ. Grateful to a friend who recommended it, it’s been an amazing experience so far. In just one month, I’ve already learned so much and more excited to see what’s ahead (long way to go).

@imfarhan0105 @amit_sethi Brother. I'm just against the fact "We only hire from IITs". They can reject us, atleast let us know by giving us a chance what we are lacking and what are we strong at.
English

@DindeAnike3289 @amit_sethi For an example let's say u want to buy a tire, even if a new tire startup offers you better tires,u will still most probably buy a mrf or a ceat or a reputable brand just because of the word reliability which is not yet proven by the new startup. Same in life too I guess.
English

I would also hire a BITS Pilani engineer over an IITian any day, unless the difference in their abilities is too vast. I also think that BITS Pilani graduates are more likely to love engineering and have a good work ethic, even though I am an ex-IITian.
Abhinav Kukreja@kukreja_abhinav
I am v bullish on BITS Pilani. Not sure what’s going on there but somehow the majority of risk taking engineers all went to the same college. No noise about quant. Minimal debate about core vs non core. V little entitlement. Just cracked students doing engineering.
English

@imfarhan0105 @amit_sethi I truly accept it. I am not against it. Neither I am doubting their competency. What I mean to say is we too need opportunities to learn and work. Instead of just hiring from IITs, also consider us. That's the whole point. It's not who's better. It's just that consider us as well
English

@DindeAnike3289 @amit_sethi Leverage is given because they proved themselves at a point in their life during which others went with the flow of adolescence. They proved that other than being a good developer they can be trusted with the work as they have something to show on paper, which others lack 'yet'.
English

@DindeAnike3289 @amit_sethi Hey BITSian Founder here. Can’t DM you.
Let’s chat? If all good, you get a job. Else, will give you brutally honest feedback.
English

@i_pranavmehta Thank you so much! Will be working on it and would make sure to achieve the best as possible.

If you're in a tier 3 college, your resume by default wouldn't have a tag which would impress anyone or add any credibility (it might sound depressing, but it is what it is). It's your responsibility to add some names/credentials that could speak for you and overshadow which ever college you come from. Some common things which mostly standout are (adding any one of em, specially from the first 2 should be enough):
- some live project, solving some real problem (for at least someone), not just another clone ffs! Could be an app, website or anything but should have some real users and MUST be live!
- A really decent CP rating! Please get out of the mentality that specialist on CF is good! It's not! Be top range expert or preferably CM!
- If you are into research then some proof of your work. Research paper, thesis or anything which speaks for you.
A good GPA (say 9+ to be pretty impressive and maybe 8+ to be decent) is always a cherry on the top!
If you fail at this then be ready for the market conditions to potentially screw you in ways you could only imagine!
Before someone starts calling me out- "giving tier3 advice here while having that IIT tag", FYI: I also got ALL of the above pointers on me resume- acodedaily for the live project (and a crypto exchange too), CM on CF and a thesis on "cryptography and genetic algorithms" and ofc 9+ GPA; and I can vouch that all of em have helped me.

@imfarhan0105 @amit_sethi Just to get this straight. I am not the best developer. But ik I am better than many and could have been even better. Neither I do have anything against these institutions. But I have been told many times that I am incompetent just because I am not from these and I don't bite it.
English

@DindeAnike3289 @amit_sethi Bro, believe me, nothing comes on a golden carpet even for us. Surviving in here is hell difficult with cutthroat competition inside. Brand does no wonder, u have to build ur own connections and grind on ur own.
English

@imfarhan0105 @amit_sethi Nobody cares about our achievements. I am an MLH hackathon winner where I competed against minds from IITs, NITs and many more better clgs. I stood out from them in that competition. But still I struggle to get an opportunity. It seems nothing, but try competing there to know.
English

@jayk_gupta Bro the point is there's a heavy competition outside even for just a job. Just upskill, make projects which would solve ur problems (no need to think of world), take critics positively and I hope u find not just a job but a good job instead.
