i know they wanted to try and get some of that dora, barney, mickey mouse preschool money but what's the point if they're gonna half ass it (tickle u) or do something that's way too late (cartoonito)

i'll never understand CN's 25+ year obsession with wanting to break into the preschool game especially when they were able to hold on to teen/young adult audiences way longer than nickelodeon and disney channel were able to
ToonHive@ToonHive

C.H. Greenblatt revealed Cartoon Network once considered a preschool ‘Chowder’ reboot, but the network “had no money to make it.” The spin-off would’ve followed Chowder, Panini and Gorgonzola attending culinary school, with familiar characters returning as faculty members.

@animatedminus @ekWatson__ theyre gonna shut some of their studios down if they see they have two kids brands instead of one? nothing good comes from these mergers, especially when they are gonna be in $70B debt 😭

i don't know why people think CN will shut down or merge with nick if the paramount/warner deal goes through paramount has like a dozen music channels that are collectively the lowest rated cable channels in the US, im sure they're fine with having two basic cable kids nets

@televisionaryZW people are just upset that their childhood defining networks have lost their relevance and are nothing but automated rerun farms now they want them to have new shows so they have *some* sort of life in them

@animatedminus Why are people complaining so much about shows not airing on cable? I don’t get it. It’s 2026 kids don’t watch cable & a very much doubt most of the people complaining have it either.

adventure time going to hulu/disney is shocking though adventure time is the one CN franchise that HBO Max US chose to keep around, i figured they'd want side quests on there too

@KoopsReturns the networks that usually do that are under the same company, which CN and Hulu are not plus, the more exclusive the rights for the shows are, the more money they can make, WBD wouldn't have gotten as much money from disney if they shared the shows while they were airing

@animatedminus The thing that gets me is that networks typically rerun their streaming exclusives later on, or they have streaming drops alongside the cable release. Why not do that with Gumball and Adventure Time?

if you told someone in 2016 that in 10 years, a new fox cartoon will stay in production longer than a new cartoon from nick, disney or cn, you'd sound batshit crazy

you know the american animation industry is fucked when nowadays, the only place you can get an original animated idea greenlit, get at least three (actual) seasons with more than 8-10 episodes each is the fucking fox network of all places

@theNightman39 the rule is a show can't air on cartoon network and adult swim at the same time when adventure time aired on adult swim, it was pulled from CN's lineup and website/app, once it left the adult swim lineup it was then able to return to CN

@mrbanana2078952 honestly with the current state the animation industry is in, i'm good on a revival for now class of 3000 had such a stylized art/animation style, no way the current industry could match it

@animatedminus Thinking which are we still getting that revival about 2 years ago. Andre 3000 teased something coming up about 2 years ago. The show's about to turn 20 this year so I'm like what are we going to get?
