Deep down every guy has a fantasy that if he just had enough money, he’d put his entire net worth into U.S. government bonds and comfortably live off the interest payments forever

@JimmyBilly74 @garrytan this is the problem with democracy you need a high quality education system to go along with it or else you end up being run into the ground by idiots

They don't have a clue. Data centers often reduce consumer bills by leveling demand. Data centers are the kick in the ass utilities need to get upgrades and new equipment sooner. They are the kick in the ass local, state (think PUC types), and the Federal government need to clean up regulations to reduce build times. Industry is innovating (SMR's, drones, etc ) and growing (new plants to reduce lead times) to better serve this market. Data centers make changes to better fit within their community (reduced water usage, more efficient power usage, low noise, returning excess power to the grid). They pay to get the resources they need reducing the impact to customers, then pay significant taxes and contribute to economic development in their communities. Don't believe everything you read and hear.

Sanders and AOC introduced a bill to pause ALL AI data center construction. 300+ local bills filed. Half of planned 2026 data centers facing delays or cancellation. Each one brings billions to local economies. The people who say they want American jobs are trying to block the biggest job creation engine since the interstate highway system.

@garrytan Build them all in Canada. Cooler weather, natural gas aplenty for cogeneration power build out and plenty of fresh water.

I am excited to vote for the Clarity Act this morning in the Senate Banking Committee. Digital assets need smart regulation and clear rules of the road to follow. We’re one step closer to ensuring a Gensler regime can never be repeated. Let’s get this done.

Every time I waych these votes it’s this vague dispair stream of being governed by senile people at the tail end of their life with no real, deep understanding of the important matters discussed and only voting on political agenda and personal interest. These are the people shaping our future. You’re not angry enough.

Even if the Clarity Act doesn’t pass in the 119th Congress, the crypto industry will continue to thrive globally. Talent and capital will simply flow to Singapore, the UAE, and the EU. The real issue is America. The risk of being pushed to the sidelines of innovation is very real. By the time policymakers panic and try to catch up, it may already be too late. History suggests the answer is “no.” If the U.S. wants to maintain dollar dominance, it must keep the center of financial markets on American soil. Both chambers of Congress surely understand this — yet Elizabeth Warren and the traditional banking lobby continue to stand in the way. The industry will survive without America. But for America to stay on top, it needs a smart, clear regulatory framework — and it needs it now.
