Just met the hardest-working group of government officials in South Africa. The backlog project at #TeamHomeAffairs is working night and day to eradicate a backlog of over 306 000 applications dating as far back as 2014. Clearing this backlog securely will inject skills and capital directly into the veins of our economy. It will also lay the foundation for the digital transformation and modernisation of Home Affairs to become an engine of job creation. Our rallying cry is clear: no backlog by Christmas! 🇿🇦

Anyone could see by looking at her that she had plastic surgery and Botox to look ten years younger. Kate Middleton in 2024 is not the same haggard, aging Kate Middleton from 2023, also known as Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales. Neither my mother nor stepmother had the time or inclination to undergo a facelift while they were undergoing chemotherapy, which Kate calls preventive measures. It’s all a load of baloney, and the British press is having a field day spreading this nonsensical explanation, saying she’s the star of the family. Without Kate, the Royal Family is nothing, and other tripe like this. It’s a disgrace. It’s bringing the whole institution into disrepute with fake photos, fake sightings, mad conspiracy stories, and now the facelift! I was educated to respect these people. My father, as a Queen’s Counsel and Senior Crown Counsel, prosecuted people in the name of the late Queen, for God’s sake, so it’s not like I am a crazy republican. No, I am not. I am just not going to roll over and applaud a situation that needs to be condemned. No one else in the United Kingdom can take off for six months, abandon the job they are paid to do, and return to the office looking like a front-page model and receive adoration. Incredible food here in Mauritius. Girls had pizza and toasted sandwiches but fck me the octopus “salad” is insane. I did have 2 as there’s no carbs in it😜 After a magnificent 1.5km swim in the bay.

18 years ago today … the Rand was at R6.50 to the US Dollar! R6.50. And it was said to have “dived”. This is the front page of the Business Day newspaper from Tuesday May 16, 2006. (It’s framed because this formed part of my son’s 18th Birthday gift today🥹).
