Horrific mass culling of approximately 250 to 300 community dogs piled like garbage into trailers. This is not just a violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act; it is a calculated, illegal massacre carried out in total defiance of the Supreme Court of India. An FIR is reportedly in progress against the Ponduru Village Panchayat Secretary and the Sarpanch. It is a dark day for governance when local officials, who are sworn to uphold the law, are the ones allegedly presiding over the poisoning and slaughter of hundreds of innocent animals. Mass culling is a criminal act. The only legal, scientific, and humane way to manage community dog populations is through Animal Birth Control (ABC) and CNVR (Catch-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release).
