When I set out to design a new elective, I underestimated how much effort it would take. Thanks to the enthusiastic and kind students at IIM Calcutta, the journey turned out to be more fun and rewarding than I had imagined. Truly enjoyed every bit of it!

Happy to share our recent co-authored publication in Macroeconomic Dynamics (with R. Rao & C. Subramanian). We demonstrate that the impact of QE has been lower in economies with higher credit regulations.

On the day @JDevStudies accepts our paper, this news on SC’s observations that the denial of child care leave is a constitutional violation, shows up. Thanks @DeepakEcon for drawing my attention to this news. indianexpress.com/article/india/…

.. in managing the impossible trinity. Among other things, we compare the 5 governors in terms of their "monetary policy independence"- not to be confused with independence from govt; we study independence from Fed policies. Reddy's term seems the best and Patel's the worst! 2/n

RBI, like most central banks, has to choose between 3 corners of the impossible trinity - free capital flows, monetary policy independence & exchange rate stability. In my new paper with Aariya & Amaresh, published in @epw_in we analyse the performance of 5 governors of RBI.. 1/n
