Ilia Topuria says his 14 year old self deserves the credit for his success today 😅🔥
"I really have little to say to him because that 14-year-old Ilia has brought me to where I’m today. Because I always say where we are today is a reflection of our past and actions of the past, and that 14-year-old Ilia has been thinking well and taken good actions.
What I might tell him is that at times I’ve worried more than I should have. At times I have suffered more than I should have, and maybe he would tell me not to worry so much, to enjoy every experience, and that everything will pass."

I grew up in Leh, Ladakh.
A remote corner of India where mobile networks barely worked and the internet was a myth.
On one visit to Delhi, I saw posters of Eminem, 50 Cent and Akon in a mall. I did not know their stories. I barely understood the culture. But their names lodged themselves somewhere in my head.
Back in Leh, I reached out to the only person I knew who understood the internet. A relative outside the usual government and military world around me.
I asked him to burn a CD with music from these artists.
He sent it.
For the next two years, those few gigabytes of music were my entire universe.
It was just me, a Sony Walkman and Eminem’s discography.
No streaming. No algorithm. No discovery feed.
Just repetition. Obsession. Immersion.
That isolation made me fall in love with hip hop in its purest form. I was not consuming it. I was studying it.
When my family was finally transferred back to a bigger city, I saw the same culture taking shape in Hindi. The same hunger. The same rebellion. The same energy. But now in a language that felt closer to home.
That was the moment something clicked.
Years later, that kid in Leh now works in the music industry and runs a record label.
All because of one burned CD.

If you go to Mashooriya’s Instagram page you’ll find that we haven’t even posted our own songs properly. Just 3 posts.
Wanted to stay away from clout-chasing and drop chartbusters. But then I wake up to a graffiti of Mashooriya in 📍Pune.
Surreal. Guess we’re moving culture.

We never set out to build a customer facing brand. Our mission was simple, drop high quality commercially viable music and support it with the best marketing humanly (or AI-ly) possible. But the organic love that has poured in for our label has been incredible. Just 8 releases deep and graffiti featuring our music, artists and label graces the streets of Pune! We are culture (at scale)
