The cemetery & crematorium were the only original parts of Flossenbürg recognised as the camp memorial after the war. It took 50 years for the camp to be included. ⁦@TheIHRA⁩ charter for Holocaust heritage emphasises the importance of safeguarding all such historic traces.

90 years ago #OnThisDay, the first SS-managed concentration camp was established outside Dachau, one of the first steps in the Nazi's rise to power. We need to #ProtectTheFacts against distortion and denial of this terrible truth. The Holocaust is not up for debate.

Together for Impact! Right to the end of the Swedish Presidency and into the Croatian one, via a week of speaking to EU Member States in Brussels, meeting IHRA Embassies in Stockholm and talking to Heads of Delegations online. Warmest🙏 to all partners!

The justification is the false narrative of “denazification.” But as IHRA Chair @ann_bernes has said, “by equating Ukraine’s democratically elected government with the murderous policy of Nazi Germany, the history of the Holocaust is being grossly distorted and misused.”

Today marks a year since Ukraine became the target of Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression. This immense loss of life, violence and destruction is shocking and draws on a distorted view of history, including Holocaust distortion:

"Countering Holocaust distortion is not only important in itself, but also means protecting our pluralistic democracies from rising threats," said IHRA Chair @ann_bernes at @OSCE conference on countering antisemitism in Skopje. This is why we must #ProtectTheFacts.
