Title IX’s focus on sex discrimination is important, albeit incomplete. Solely focusing on sex discrimination doesn’t account for the intersectional aspect of discrimination. I think for true equality a more nuanced approach is needed. @annaaacha #ucr150

Once again, the unfair and disadvantages against college athletes and their rights sheds light. Signing day is a luxury for aspiring high school athletes but signing these contracts provides pros and cons as athletes are also signing their rights away. @annaaacha #ucr150

Stanley Eitzen had a great concept when creating a college athletes “bill of rights.” With the 8 aspects of his athletes bill of rights, athletes would be well protected, properly ensuring their success academically & personally. #ucr150 @annnaacha

@annnaacha #ucr150 So music students can play at concerts & get paid, science students can work in laboratories & get paid, but college athletes don’t get any similar opportunities? Students already struggle to create a livable life for themselves with the little money they have.

After evaluating the distinction between change/progress and reactions to an issue, what are some notable examples of “progress” within the NCAA that are really just reactions to athletes’ issues that gained awareness? #ucr150 @annnaacha

Revenue student-athletes encounter many pressures that cause them to have difficulty in academics. Student athletes may have the tendency to put more focus and practice into playing a sport, in order to avoid the pressures placed on them. @annnaacha #UCR150

I found it interesting how the NCAA and its member schools wield significant influence in collegiate athletics governance, impacting everything from pricing to regulations, profoundly shaping the experiences of athletes and fans alike. @annnaacha #UCR150

I find it crazy and absorb that college athletes can’t even get payed for there hard performances. They deserve so much more respect and pay off for all the hard work they do @annnaacha #ucr150

Is the NCAA’s control over student athletes and college sports fair, or does it prioritize profit over their academic and financial wellbeing? #ucr150 @annnaacha

A question I had was for the basic rights and protection part. An athlete got hurt and got the medical benefit because he was on live tv, but if the athletes got hurt before the game with no one knowing would they get the medical benefit too? #ucr150 @annnaacha

The NACC controls the distribution of funds to college athletes, each college select 13 college athletes to receive their scholarships. The limitation on the number of spots results in many talented college athletes not being able to showcase themselves.#ucr150 @annnaacha

At what point does depriving student-athletes of their deserved compensation for the revenue they bring in considered exploitation? It is free labor. @annnaacha #UCR150

College athletes are alway been shut down from what the issues that they go through with NCAA. They have made their athletes work so many hours but yet do not have a decent salary. All the money that each sport makes it goes straight to the colleges. #ucr150 @annnaacha

how is it fair that colleges defund sports… looking at the charts from the article this week they keep decreasing funding more and more. there are less student athletes every year according to the chart in the article this week. @annnaacha #ucr15

the collegiate athletics cartel; NCAA implements strategies that leave these young athletes exploited for the financial gain and benefit of the universities and their own personal agenda and that serves as a big reason universities sit complacent #ucr150 @annnaacha

Why is the NCAA allowed to monopolize on their students' athletic abilities, but the individual athletes who put in the work are not allowed to reap the benefits themselves? Were their intentions in installing amateurism to capitalize off their athletes? @annaacha #ucr150
