Sitting in his flat's bedroom in South Kolkata and sipping Darjeeling tea, preferably from Makaibari tea estate, the Bangali bhodrolok begins his day by reading the newspaper. As he reads reports of lynchings, failing economy, he exclaims that the country has gone to the dogs.

Lol, that kid is not Shubman Gill. Apply some common sense! That ballboy is from KKR, and you get ballboys from your local cricketing body, which in this case was CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal). Meanwhile, Shubman Gill is from Punjab, so ideally, if he were a ballboy, then he should have been in Mohali and wearing a KXIP jersey and in a KXIP match provided by PCA (Punjab Cricket Association)

Recalling memories of Shubman Gill with David Warner from 2009. From ball boy to captain of an IPL team, what a journey, Shubman Gill - A beautiful picture.

The entry of influencers into the franchise is the worst thing that has happened to the IPL. Those guys who are hired are not even fans of the team in the first place; they are actually paid to pretend to be hardcore fans and then post rage bait stuff for engagement because they are not even good at their original job, which is to be creative and humorous. I have been a PBKS fan since season 1; these influencers who now act as hardcore fans have no idea how much we, the actual fans, have gone through season after season. Yet the discourse never went this bad. There was always banter in the right spirit.

@antarjit92 @AnupPalAgt I think a huge part of this is how the social media teams of the Franchises handle it. I have never seen any team post shit like PBKS official page does. They cross the line way more than usual. And all that does comeback. (Rape threats are too much).

The Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer' sister, Shresta Iyer, created a reel regarding the KKR vs PBKS match 😊 IPL 2026 - In it, she jokingly remarked that PBKS had "lost" a point while simultaneously "handing over" a point to KKR. "Lo ditta ek point" - This was done entirely to support her brother Shreyas Iyer and was intended merely as lighthearted banter. - It harbored not even a shred of malice or ill intent. Moreover, this video clip was not released through PBKS. - It was simply a light hearted reel containing no offensive language or disrespectful content of any kind. - Yet, a section of KKR fans mocked the video, employing extremely distasteful and disrespectful language behavior, that is utterly senseless and irrational.

The level of discourse among IPL fans is at rock bottom! Racial abuse, rape jokes, and insults directed at players and their families are now being normalized in the name of fan clubs and troll accounts! There are fans who behave as if their life depends on their team. Cricket is a game at the end of the day. Enjoy it, celebrate your wins, and also get disappointed when your team doesn’t do well. However, the kind of abuse and hate you spread in the name of supporting your team and players is completely unacceptable.

Players families should stay away from team banter & online trolling IPL fanbases these days have reached an extremely toxic & hardcore level ,there is hardly any limit to how far trolling can go. The moment you get involved, you’re likely to face backlash & reactions After that saying maine to kuch nahi kiya or playing the victim card doesnt really make sense If you choose to troll or engage, people will get triggered & respond Thats just how it works

And unlike us, the real fans who have been with the team since season 1, through thick and thin, don’t really know what we have actually gone through all these years—our struggles and disappointments! But still, we always maintained grace despite the heavy trolling directed our way. These influencers, who have just joined the team or rather been employed, don’t even have any emotional attachment or actual fans. They are here just for engagement farming and rage baiting because they aren’t even good at their job, which is being creative enough or humorous.

In 18 fucking Years I have seen worst things but it took 1 captain sister to downgrade all the image of our franchise which carries the grace throughout under @realpreityzinta ji 🙏 Totally unnecessary cringe shit show. No family members should be involved into Rivalry.

Not just Instagram influencers, these so-called fan armies are equally toxic. They are racist, sexist, and make rape jokes under the pretext of banter between teams. These jobless buggers seek engagement at any cost and behave as though their lives depend on these franchises or players.

I am not talking about the official page, but some fan pages and fan accounts have continuously posted extremely derogatory content, both racial and vulgar in nature. As I have mentioned, it is getting toxic from both ends and needs to stop here. We can’t be making racist, sexist, and rape jokes on the pretext of banter between teams. This needs to stop right now.
