Dear Jimmy Kimmel, listen to me very closely. I’m a comedian. I’ve made fun of Jill Biden. I’ve made fun of Michelle Obama. I’ve roasted First Ladies before. But I have never in my life joked about Jill Biden becoming a widow or Michelle Obama becoming a widow. I’ve never joked about Joe Biden or Barack Obama having an attempt made on their life. I’ve never laughed at the thought of their wives standing there in fear, wondering if their husbands are going to make it home alive. Because that is not comedy. That is sick. You could have joked about Melania being married to Trump. You could have joked about politics. You could have even gone after her accent like liberals usually do. But no — you chose to joke about Melania Trump becoming a widow. And let’s be honest, Jimmy: when you hate Donald Trump as much as you do, that doesn’t sound like a joke. It sounds like how you really feel. They always say there is truth in comedy.

Between 2011 and 2012, I took courses on wine production in France. During my internship at a hotel in Alsace, the owner once raised a glass in my honor, celebrating my “freedom from the chador imposed on us in Lebanon.” I looked at him, confused. He corrected himself and said the chador was imposed in Syria. “Women wear the black chador in Iran,” I told him. He was stunned to learn that I could dress in the Bekaa Valley or in Damascus exactly as I dressed in France. In February 2022, I attended a lecture in Heidelberg by Helga Baumgarten, otherwise known as Hamas Helga. I insisted on going and brought students from different university departments with me. Almost twenty people came because I pushed them to. A professor had dismissed my concerns, saying that only a small group of retired far-left people with nothing better to do would attend such an event. The room was packed. And most of those present were young students. They listened as Baumgarten, a professor at Birzeit University, lectured about Hamas as a political movement that supposedly represented Gazans. She dismissed the Islamist dimension and claimed this was simply “their culture” in the Middle East. She accused Europeans of misunderstanding “our needs.” According to her, while Europeans think our women are forced to veil, women in Gaza and the rest of the Middl East actually want that lifestyle. During the Q&A, I asked her how she dared speak for our women. As a woman who is half Syrian and half Lebanese, I told the room that I completely reject the claim that our culture resembles anything promoted by Hamas or similar movements. I asked what she meant by describing Hamas as “kind politicians” and why she spoke so warmly of her friendship with Hamas founder Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. Her host, the owner of a publishing house in Heidelberg — a man who brags about his friendship with Arafat — did not allow her to respond. The same man organized another event after October 7 and told students that if they wanted to know the truth about the Middle East, they should trust only Al Jazeera. Here are my mother and father at dinner in the Bekaa Valley in 1982. The Middle East is my home, my roots, my story. Its tragedies are not theoretical to me. Its wars, traumas, and losses are part of my own life. And no, the wars of our region are not caused by Israel’s existence. They are caused by the rejection of Israel’s existence. In other words: by “resistance.” So to everyone around the world who is bored, confused, radicalized, or looking for a cause: please find a hobby other than Palestinianism. And those whose profession is Palestinianism must face consequences for the damage they cause: whether by laundering money for terror organizations, advancing their political agendas in academia, polishing extremism in respectable language, raising funds under the banner of charity, or enabling armed resistance through activism disguised as virtue. They do not save the Middle East. They help keep it burning. #Israel #lebanon #syria

Testimony from Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan - the man who was in the room with Yasser Arafat in January 2001, when he rejected the Clinton Parameters (accepted by Israel) for the establishment of a Palestinian state. “I wanted to cry. My heart burned over how the opportunity was lost once again…” For context: the Parameters were President Bill Clinton’s final and far-reaching proposal for peace. They included a Palestinian state in nearly all of the West Bank and Gaza (with land swaps), a capital in East Jerusalem, and other major concessions. Israel accepted the framework. Bandar had already secured broad Arab support. Arafat looked Bandar and the Egyptians in the eye and said he would accept… then lied to their faces and withdrew. Bandar had previously warned Clinton: “If Arafat rejects this, it will not be a mistake - it will be a crime.” After the collapse, Bandar said his “heart burned” over the lost opportunity “perhaps for the last time.” Arafat rejected peace and a Palestinian state - and chose terrorism and the Second Intifada instead. This is not ancient history; it reflects the same ideology of hatred that led to October 7 attacks.

Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.

BREAKING: At the request of the Islamic regime of Iran, the government of the Netherlands has begun prosecuting Iranians who protest the presence of former and current members of the IRGC terrorist organization and the Basij paramilitary force on Dutch soil. Dutch police are now targeting and arresting Iranian dissidents who have exposed the identities of current and former supporters of the regime. They have already arrested the administrator of a Telegram group that was publishing the names of these individuals and forced him to delete all related content from the platform. In addition, Dutch authorities, acting under pressure from the Islamic regime, have reduced the visibility of my posts in the Netherlands, particularly those exposing agents of the regime operating in the country. The Netherlands is, unfortunately, turning into a safe haven for supporters of the Islamic regime to operate within Europe.

Interesting how it works Elon puts up his own money, rounds up the absolute best AI talent on the planet, leverages every connection he has to secure serious resources, and launches OpenAI in 2015 as a pure non-profit explicitly created to develop AI for the benefit of humanity, with zero profit motive and open research Then the “team” decides they want the bag They push Elon out, take control, and quietly flip the entire thing into a for-profit machine All while preaching the same sanctimonious lines on repeat: “We’re still mission-driven!” “AI for the good of humanity!” “We’d never abandon our principles!” The ultimate betrayal: Elon got zero equity. Not a single share. He funded it. He built the foundation. He got nothing while they turned his non-profit into their personal cash cow This is the level of betrayal and hypocrisy we’re dealing with And for the record.... this lawsuit doesn’t put a single penny in Elon’s pocket. Any win goes straight back to the non-profit to restore the exact mission he founded

We can't wait to make our case in court where both the truth and the law are on our side. This lawsuit has always been a baseless and jealous bid to derail a competitor. We'll also finally have the chance to question Mr. Musk under oath before a jury of Californians about this attempt to undermine our work to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity.

Als het aan de EU ligt, ben je straks verplicht je eigen naam op te geven om toegang te krijgen tot internet. Maar om toegang te krijgen tot een EU land hoeft dit niet, je papieren weggooien volstaat. Ik leg dit hier even neer.

@RichieBrave It's worth noting that tribal chiefs in Ghana, Congo, Gabon and Angola were responsible for 75% of the capture, sale and export of slaves from Africa, making a fortune. The time has come for modern day African leaders to apologize for what they did to millions of Africans.

The UAE stands as a strong partner of the United States. No ceasefire with the Islamic regime in Iran. Not now. You don’t negotiate with terror. You end it. The UAE stands firm. Zero space for terrorists. Germany, Britain, Spain's governments say they want a diplomatic solution with this terrorist regime. Fine. Let it be your neighbour. Take its leadership, as you did with the Muslim Brotherhood. Give them citizenship. They are all yours. If you want the rubbish, take it but don’t ask us to accept it or live with it. It stinks. You can have it. Live with it alone. This Saturday will not pass quietly. It will be marked. It will be remembered.

AN OPEN LETTER TO LEWIS HAMILTON Mr Hamilton, You have recently spoken about Britain’s past and suggested that the country should consider returning land in Africa as some form of historical reckoning. Before making such sweeping statements, it might be worth revisiting the full history — not just the fashionable fragments that circulate on social media. Slavery was not invented by Britain. It existed for millennia across the ancient world — in empires from Rome to the Middle East and Africa. By the time Britain emerged as a maritime power, slave trading networks already stretched across continents. The Atlantic trade itself involved multiple participants. African rulers and traders captured and sold prisoners to European merchants on the coast. It was an ugly system, but it was also an international one. What is often omitted from modern lectures about history is that Britain became the first major power to turn against the trade. Parliament passed the 1807 Act abolishing the slave trade, and the Royal Navy then spent decades enforcing that decision. The West Africa Squadron patrolled thousands of miles of coastline. Sailors died from disease and from gunfire while intercepting slave ships. In doing so they liberated tens of thousands of people who would otherwise have been carried into bondage. Many of those liberated Africans were settled in Sierra Leone. The capital was named Freetown for a reason. There are also chapters rarely mentioned today. When Napoleon restored slavery in French territories after it had been abolished, it was British power that ultimately helped end those systems again. There is also the matter of the enormous compensation loan taken by the British state when slavery was abolished across the empire — a debt British taxpayers continued servicing for generations. None of this erases the suffering of those enslaved. But it does mean the story is far more complex than the simple narrative often presented today. So before condemning Britain wholesale, perhaps a moment might be taken to acknowledge the sailors who fought the slave traders and the role Britain played in shutting down the Atlantic system. A fitting tribute would be support for a memorial to those men who served and died enforcing abolition. History deserves honesty — not slogans. Yours sincerely Stan Robinson Voice of Wales @VoWalesWren @alanlester #SouthAfricaSquadron #RoyalNavy #VoiceOfWales

🔊 The fact that 🇺🇦Ukraine, which is not a Member of either #NATO or the 🇪🇺EU, is blocking oil supplies to 🇭🇺Hungary, which is a Member of both NATO and the EU, and that none of the other Member States is defending Hungary, speaks volumes about how rotten the EU and NATO are.

@WallStreetMav The Netherlands has a (box 3) 36% wealth tax for ages. Attached is a summary in Dutch but you can read the numbers. There is a 52K € / 104K € tax free allowance in 26. Savings are calculated at a fictive gain of 1.28%. Investments are calculated at a fictive gain of 6%.

Netherlands just cancelled the 36% tax on unrealized gains. Back to the drawing board after huge negative public reaction. You can't force people to pay taxes on paper profits they have not realized yet. Especially when those gains can evaporate overnight. This policy was going to destroy retail investors and drive wealth to other countries. People would have been forced liquidate assets just to cover tax bills on holdings they wanted to keep. Public pressure works when enough people speak up.
