This morning I was given a tour of @CityofBulawayo manufacturing company #PumpandSteel and my goodness what a positive revelation it was. This company, which is only 25 years old, has not only survived the rigors of hyperinflation in #Zimbabwe but is now booming. The manufacturing plant, which produces door frames, window frames, roofing, fencing and other building materials, is located in the old ZECO factory which closed down years ago. I was deeply impressed by the manufacturing processes and efficiency demonstrated. The Company management explained how they are now one of the major suppliers to the Zimbabwean housing market and that they are exporting to Botswana. I was shown the old railway siding and tracks which lead into the old ZECO factory and management explained how their hope is that the railway connections can be rehabilitated so that they can start exporting to countries right across @SADC_News . The Company presently employs some 400 workers and is currently importing new manufacturing equipment which will further boost production and employment. It is wonderful to know that there are companies here reviving Bulawayo as the industrial hub of Zimbabwe and Southern Africa. Amhlophe one and all!
