It is my absolute pleasure to share my incredible postdoc Dawei's @amaizeingcorn manuscript on epigenetics and aging in Arabidopsis. It is the work I am most proud of thus far in my career, and every figure has a breakthrough that we are excited about biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…

This paper led by Dr. Atsushi Shimada is out @NaturePlants! Centromere function can be dependent on a few TEs, and in RNAi mutants, small RNAs targetting these TEs are enough to reestablish normal chromosome segregation! Crazy! nature.com/articles/s4147…

So great to see this paper out in @Nature. Beautiful molecular characterization of a new toxin-antidote drive system in maize, led by Ben berube, with assistance from Martienssen lab @antnerves @CrisAlves_bio @BioJlynn and collaborators @arminscheben @jrossibarra Jerry Kermicle
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory@CSHL

Why was corn able to spread and adapt so rapidly across the Americas 4,000 years ago? Research from CSHL’s Rob Martienssen suggests that the answer may lie in a genetic system called Teosinte Pollen Drive. cshl.edu/corns-missing-…

A hallmark of sex is each parent transmits half of their genome through a recombined egg or sperm. What if this was not the case? Check our new paper @NatureGenet where we break this rule via diploid clonal gametes and develop polyploid genome design nature.com/articles/s4158…

The MaizeCODE paper is on BioRXiv! New insights on enhancers in plants and a lot of data for every maize (epi)geneticist to play with, including on teosinte, the ancestor of maize. A big team effort, very grateful to everyone involved! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

First major work fully made in the laboratory is out in @biorxivpreprint: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…. We found that DNA methylation allows recurrent endogenization of giant virus in a protist🦠 closely related to animals, large scale virus and eukaryotic host genomic mixture.🧵 1/10

Gene expression involves thousands of proteins that bind DNA, yet comprehensively mapping these is challenging. We developed ChIP-DIP – a method for simultaneous, genome-wide mapping of hundreds of DNA-protein interactions in a single experiment. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
