This whole business around Rohit Sharma, from an irresponsible leak to a high level clarification, is so damaging to Indian cricket and the atmosphere in the team.

Pre 2011 WC, we had 3 openers in the mix - Sachin, Sehwag and Gambhir, we still managed to get Virat in the mix as an opener. In 2011 WC, we managed to fit them all in our top 4. All this sounds practical when there is enough trust in place, we are far away from that state now.

George Orwell worried that a shrinking vocabulary would eventually produce a shrinking range of thought. It is difficult to think a nuanced thought with a blunt language.

I'd rather have Jadeja at this point over Sundar in ODIs, atleast Jadeja stays fit and contributes through fielding instead of clutching the hamstring in every second game

A lot of cricketers after break are coming into the team adding a few kilos. Some who did rehab are even worse. The weight issues are leading to too many dodgy hamstrings. One thing that most of them could have learnt from the great Virat Kohli but failed miserably in emulating one aspect that was easier.

This is also pretty much an unsaid admission that the ICC has zero interest in carrying this tournament on. This would’ve been the last World Cup had the next one been scheduled anywhere other than in India. But that’ll most definitely be the end. Same thing with the CT too.

A World Cup format designed for two reasons: to give cricket's Associate nations as little exposure as possible, and to try and manufacture two (or more) India-Pakistan fixtures. A total mess

ICC could have simply gone back to the old 14-team World Cup format but they wanted to ensure minimal associate games and most India-Pak games. Taking the flagship event for granted. I hope the allure of the World Cup survives after this ongoing farce since 2019.

Two things are happening right now. People are doom scrolling 4-5 hours a day. Brains are rotten, foggy and fried. People cannot sit with a hard problem for 10 minutes. People are using AI for everything. They cannot write a simple email without ChatGPT. They can't do basic math. They can't think independently. Let's see how these two feed each other. The more you scroll, the more your brain rots. More your brain rots, more you need AI for basic stuff. More you use AI, less your brain works. Less your brain works, more it craves low effort dopamine. So you scroll more. Brain rots further. You depend on AI even more. It is a self serving loop and it is accelerating. Please break this loop or you are doomed. Zombies aren't coming. They are already here, scrolling endlessly.

Baz McCullum wanted to change the culture of an entire cricketing ecosystem. Gambhir with his no-superstar policy is trying to do the same. These are not corporate leaders who are appointed to change how a few thousand employees function. How India plays and views cricket is a function of how the entire population thinks. You can't change that just because it doesn't suit your perspective. Cultures change organically. The way India plays cricket now is vastly different from how it was played during RoKo prime which was different from how it was played during prime Ganguly which was different from prime Kapil Dev. Evolution is a slow process and depends on multiple uncontrollable factors. You can't sit in a chair and decide which way the evolution should go. Gambhir is making the mistake. Chappell tried to do the same two decades ago. We could let Chappell go since he was powerless. Who has the guts to face Gambhir and tell him he isn't needed.
