@homomediocritus Agree completely, although a full scale RCT with an appropriate sample size is required to inform this decision. Watch the space!

Open and transparent! A key element in any research study. Our study protocol is now published doi.org/10.1371/journa… The PREHAB FAI feasibility study is progressing well with 26 participants recruited already! Thanks to everyone involved

The latest addition to my research portfolio. Thanks to @NIHRresearch @abrushton @CambridgeHipDoc @AngliaRuskin @CUH_NHS @CUH_NMAresearch @CUH_Physio for all the support. Research on influencing outcomes in young adult hip is growing and really glad to be contributing to this!

Study by @louisefgrant has shown benefits of Prehab in this cohort - 'HAPI trial' ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P… Also @Anuj_physio is currently looking at this, as part of his PhD, which will give us clarity. Further, Pre-op Hip strength (especially extensors) is an independent predictor of outcomes after hip scope in FAI syndrome. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32392094/ So, make sense to get them stronger before the surgery, in my opinion.

@function2fitnes Do you know of research/evidence to support this? I'm genuinely interested, not trying to undermine your point or pick a fight. I don't know the evidence, and my bias is to believe what you say. Thanks either way.

No evidence exists on outcomes of non-operative management in patients with femoroacetabular impingement and concomitant Tönnis Grade 2 or more hip osteoarthritis: a scoping review - PubMed pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36484811/

Fore more than 10 years I have now had the responsibility of being an Associate, and latest a Deputy Editor for the @BJSM_BMJ I have functioned under many great people and editors and seen this journal grow in the most incredible way - not just its impact factor. All though no one is perfect - as a community BJSM is second to none IMO - and I am proud to still play a small part🥰 Upwards and onwards🤩
