Your PF deduction has two parts. Most salaried Indians don't know the difference and one of them could be quietly costing you.
Here's what Ketan Das @absolutely_KJD (PF Expert, @FinRight ) explains about EPS the pension portion of your PF and why for many employees, not being part of it is actually the better outcome.
First, can you choose to opt out of EPS?
No. It's not in your hands. Here's how it works:
Joined before September 2014?You are automatically an EPS member. No choice. Contributions continue regardless.
Joined after 1st September 2014 AND your basic salary was above ₹15,000/month at your first job?You are not eligible for EPS. That ₹1,250/month stays inside your PF and earns interest. This is the better outcome.
Joined after September 2014 but basic salary was below ₹15,000?EPS applies. Pension gets deducted. No opt-out.
Why is not being in EPS actually a good thing?
That ₹1,250 going into EPS every month accumulates but when you retire at 58, the maximum monthly pension you can receive is ₹7,500.
In today's cost of living, that number is not meaningful.
Contrast that with keeping ₹1,250 inside EPF where it earns 8.25% p.a., compounded, government-backed and the difference over a career is significant.
Comment "EPF" below and we'll send you the link to join Ketan and @thefynprint on May 22nd where he's answering your EPF transfer questions and more.

@pithabreadcrumb I reduced the carbs I was eating. Sugar mostly came from fruits. Working out started with down dog pilates app. Haven't stepped inside a gym yet. Mostly just body weight exercises and more walking in day to day life.

@i_sreenivas May I know what kind of things? And do you have any method to do this?
English

@LoosKamunati I always get this doubt coz I'm from Chennai but live in Bangalore now. I google the place before making plans 😂
English

Roamed through Indira Nagar only to realise this is in Bengaluru not Chennai. 🫠

If you are a matcha fan, then go to this small cafe called Midori in Indira Nagar. Really nice

@i_sreenivas @delhivery @help_delhivery My credit card was supposed to be delivered by @delhivery after doc verification. Got out for delivery msg and then delivered msg. Delivery person didn't pick calls, bank was not able to help and customer support was non existent. Found my cc stuffed in post box 2 days later 😂
English

Hi @delhivery
Your name sounds like delivery, but you don’t want to deliver my package that’s been sitting in the local office 1 km from my home for 2 days.
@help_delhivery you have help in your name but you don’t seem to be helping me. No response to my DMs.

world is not fair.
We all know this yet find it hard to accept.
people won't be nice to you for no reason.
people would be tough with you for no reason.
opportunities won't come to you easily.
world is not going to adjust for you.
there will be groups you won't be part of that.
you won't be the part of "cool" things
but still keep showing, keep moving forward, keep observing but don't let it affects you, keep making your space in this world.
coz in many strangers you will find 1-2 people who will be "your people"
(random thoughts)

"A well-educated and professionally qualified woman cannot be expected to be confined within the rigid boundaries of matrimonial obligations alone.
Marriage does not eclipse her individuality, nor does it subjugate her identity under that of her spouse. It is for both the husband and the wife to balance their marital ties in a manner that respects mutual aspirations, and not for one to unilaterally dictate the life choices of the other.
A woman can no longer be treated as a mere appendage to the household of the husband, and her independent intellectual and professional identity and aspirations must receive due credence and respect." - #SupremeCourt

I have come to the same realisation as an adult... And my belief that good begets good also was shattered... Great way to step into my 30s I guess..
Libriscent@libriscent
I think one of the worst realizations I've had as an adult is how few people care about actually being a good person. Until the last few years, I never knew how terrible people were. Call me naive.
