Fans keep blaming Casemiro whenever the midfield gets overrun, but the reality is that Mainoo currently doesn’t offer enough to control games. He doesn’t provide progressive passing, goals, assists, physicality, or defensive intensity. When games become chaotic and physical, he struggles to impose himself. That’s exactly why Amorim often preferred a midfield of Casemiro and Bruno instead. Mainoo is talented, but talent alone isn’t enough at this level. Right now he’s being protected by hype because he came from Carrington. Being from the academy shouldn’t lower the standard. At Manchester United, every midfielder has to dominate games - not just promise that they might one day.

They signed Marmoush, Doku, and Savinho in the last two years. When those players didn’t meet Guardiola’s standards, they didn’t start talking about “platforming” them better or reshaping the entire system to suit them. They simply went out and signed Cherki and Semenyo. That’s four attacking signings within one year. No excuses and no emotional attachment. You don’t perform to the required level? Fine, we’ll bring in someone who will. Meanwhile, United fans treat players like family members.
