Quick reminder to journalists that the Old City of Jerusalem (including Al-Aqsa mosque) is not in Israel, it is located entirely within occupied East Jerusalem. I'm amazed by how few stories acknowledge this critical contextual detail.

Minister Alghabra, you approved a $36M drone contract with Israel’s largest arms company, Elbit Systems, which markets its weapons as “field tested” after testing them on civilians in Gaza. Canada must sanction apartheid Israel & end all arms deals with them immediately.

Reminder: Al-Aqsa, along with all of East Jerusalem, is illegally occupied land as defined by intl law. It is not part of Israel under any standards of intl law. Israeli forces in East Jerusalem should be defined as nothing less than an invasion. You know, like in Ukraine.

Canada consistently votes against UNGA resolutions supporting Palestinians or condemning Israel human rights violations. As Canadas representative to the UN, you are in a position of power to take concrete action against these crimes. This weak statement does not suffice.

@theJagmeetSingh Thank you Mr. Singh. We call on Canada to end the Canada Israel Free Trade Agreement and stop the importing of goods from illegally stolen Palestinian land. Canada must take action against Israeli apartheid.

The terrifying, disturbing, and brutal violence at the Al-Aqsa Mosque makes it clear that Canada can no longer stand on the sidelines. The NDP will move a motion to discuss immediate steps Canada can take to help end violence and violations of human rights and International Law.
