Alright, started a Great American Movies list. Criteria is weirdly specific on my end, but I’m open to suggestions. Got some easy ones down, give me your picks.

late-season Parks & Rec really leaned on the kind of joke where someone says the name of something made-up like it's really famous or obvious

@AndThatsBB I get physically angry watching Max Muncy hit. This man just doesn't chase. You can almost hear him sneering "that's 0.16cm outside" as he takes a ball 1. Two-strike counts don't faze him. Then he'll whip out a hellacious dong on the 9th pitch. He's suffocating. He's Max Muncy.

OpenAI has lost or sidelined eight senior execs in about a week. All three leaders of the Stargate data center initiative are leaving for the same startup, the CMO is stepping down for cancer recovery, the COO is being moved to "special projects," the CFO is reportedly being frozen out of IPO planning, the CEO of AGI Deployment is on medical leave, and the head of Model Behavior walked out the door. Here's the breakdown: > Peter Hoeschele, Shamez Hemani, and Anuj Saharan, the three execs who launched Stargate, are all leaving OpenAI to join the same unnamed startup, with Hoeschele already out > The Stargate exits follow OpenAI abandoning plans to build its own data centers and instead renting from AWS and Google Cloud, then reorganizing infrastructure under former Intel AI chief Sachin Katti, who joined in November 2025. Hoeschele went from reporting to Greg Brockman and running data center groups to reporting to Katti, and left soon after > CFO Sarah Friar told colleagues OpenAI won't be ready for a 2026 IPO and questioned whether slowing revenue can support Altman's server spending, and Altman has reportedly been excluding her from financial planning conversations and investor meetings > Internal projections show OpenAI burning more than $200 billion before reaching positive cash flow, with 2026 losses alone projected around $14 billion > Friar stopped reporting directly to Altman in August 2025 and started reporting to Fidji Simo instead, and now Simo is on medical leave > Simo, CEO of AGI Deployment, told staff on April 3 she needs several weeks off for POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), writing she had "pushed a little too far" after postponing medical tests her entire time at OpenAI. It took four executives to cover her job in her absence (Brockman on product, plus Jason Kwon, Friar, and Denise Dresser on business and operations) > COO Brad Lightcap is moving to "special projects" reporting directly to Altman, where he'll run a joint venture with private equity firms to sell OpenAI software to businesses. CRO Denise Dresser absorbs most of his operational duties, ending the COO role he held since 2022 > CMO Kate Rouch is stepping down to focus on recovery from late-stage breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with just weeks after joining in December 2024 and had been treating while running marketing. Former Meta CMO Gary Briggs takes over as interim CMO > Joanne Jang, GM of OpenAI Labs and former head of Model Behavior, left April 7 after four and a half years. She personally crafted the personalities of GPT-4o and GPT-4.5, authored the Model Spec, and shipped on GPT-4, DALL·E 2, TTS, the Chat API, and memory > Remaining Model Behavior staff were folded under post-training lead Max Schwarzer after Jang's exit, with some reading it as the end of the GPT-4o "personality" era > OpenAI also paused its Stargate UK project, citing high energy costs and regulatory hurdles, as it tightens spending ahead of a possible IPO

It is strange, meeting Roon. Had you asked me after, I would say I met an ordinary man with an ordinary face - of the non-cartoon variety. Yet when I attempt to recall now, all I see in my mind’s eye is Carlos Ramon from The Magic School Bus. Which memory is the false one? I wonder.

@CarterSchultz24 @ChrisFiexen Stop saying "ring culture", that's not a real thing. The point of sports is to win championships and there's no "culture" for that. You don't win a championship in AAA so it doesn't apply here, but the ring culture term needs to be scrapped

Here’s what I’d do if I was in charge of GitHub, in order: 1. Establish a North Star plan around being critical infrastructure for agentic code lifecycles and determine a set of ways to measure that. 2. Fire everyone who works on or advocates for copilot and shut it down. It’s not about the people, Im sure theres many talented people, youre just working at the wrong company. 3. Buy Pierre and launch agentic repo hosting as the first agentic product. Repos would be separate from the legacy web product to start since they’re likely burdened with legacy cross product interactions. 4. Re-evaluate all product lines and initiatives against the new North Star. I suspect 50% get cut (to make room for different ones). The big idea is all agentic interactions should critically rely on GitHub APIs. Code review should be agentic but the labs should be building that into GH (not bolted in through GHA like today, real first class platform primitives). GH should absolutely launch an agent chat primitive, agent mailboxes are obviously good. Etc. GH should be a platform and not an agent itself. This is going to be very obviously lacking since I only have external ideas to work off of and have no idea how GitHub internals are working, what their KPIs are or what North Star they define, etc. But, with imperfect information, this is what I’d do.
