The Global South is left with far too little climate finance to address the escalating needs of its people. @theGCF must compel the Global North to deliver more public funds for climate action, rather than pivot to profit-driven, risky financial resources such as loans from MDBs.

Private finance cannot replace public finance in leading climate action. Only public, grants-based, and predictable climate finance can unlock climate action for the most vulnerable, fill the gaps in underfunded climate programs, and realize the mandates of the UN climate funds.
