@bewestisdoing I agree from a philosophical sense. The fact I can get on-par or better control with my pump from 2005 speaks volumes. But at the same time the older I get and the less joy I find in the "hobby" of diabetes, I might trade off some of it for convenience eventually.

@applehat I currently use a 515 and have a few models hanging around. We need our digital rights protected. The reservoirs can be reused long-time, but not sure about quicksets. I won't buy a pump we don't have full control over. Maybe I'll import a DANA.

Let me share a somewhat depressing photo for those of us still looping with Minimeds. Got a big stack of 723's and a 515 from a local endo. All the 723's are just *slightly* too new. They all seem so nice compared to my 722 I use. This is what knee-jerk reaction took from us.

@bewestisdoing Im gonna hang onto the 515 unless someone else can use it. Im not sure you can even get the 180ml carts anymore tho -- but there are jigs to cut the 300's down to fit. I imagine I'll run my 2 722s into the dirt and eventually cave and go to Tandem.

@applehat Tons of untapped, wasted value. That 515 is a keeper. US vs EU 723s are different; EU 723s should be ok, IIRC.

@bewestisdoing From what I gathered, *some* US 723's might have firmware version 2.4a -- but yeah, all these are 2.5+

I dunno. My teen setup a discord and a server so he can play Minecraft with Nana (78) and I didn’t help, so maybe folks like bolt guns?

I come to twitter to share this Dexcom G6 that's been going for 36 days and is still fairly accurate. That is all.

Endo RN: We need to update your insulin Rx. How many units/day are you using? Me: Gives number that assumes a carb-heavy sick day. Endo RN: Sounds good! Gotta make sure you have a buffer with #insulin.

@shanselman @daronyondem I'll add to this. I drink entirely too much diet soda and energy drinks. If they effected blood sugar, I'd know. Haha

PSA: Diet Coke and Pepsi Max have no sugar and do not affect blood sugar as a Type 1 diabetic. They have zero glycemic index. I’ve been on insulin for 30 years. I don’t drink or smoke. But I’m gonna drink a GD Diet Coke sometimes unapologetically. Don’t talk to me about chemicals

You know what infuriates me? Every time I get new insurance (job changes) I have to fight the insurance company to cover my insulin. I'd like to see legislation that makes "pre approval" requirements for insulin illegal. If my doctor writes that I need 150u a day, I do.

@CDLHamma @shanselman Don't take this as me being a trump fan by any stretch, but I saw plenty of liberals living in a completely made up fantasy world around his presidency. Maybe not to this specific tune, but it was nearly as bad

@applehat @shanselman I've followed politics my entire life and yeah I've seen some odd stuff on the democratic side. But never anything close to what we're seeing now. I've never seen ordinary liberals exist in a completely alternative world.

Guys in the diner booth behind me are saying “Brandon is flying in illegal aliens from all over and giving them jobs and places to stay, and California is paying for it by tripling their income tax.” They really deeply believe this.

@CDLHamma @shanselman I find that this sentiment exists all across the political spectrum, not just in this singular group. It tends to flip flop in the two main parties depending on who's in power.

@shanselman It's disturbing stuff. At least at one point we all existed in the same reality. But now folks like this exist in a completely alternate reality where facts don't exist, only feelings. Extremely dangerous for our democracy.

Folks who love NFTs need to recognize that there are reasons not to love them, and not just the environmental impact. I see that you are really excited about this, but it seems kinda like no one makes money unless more people are always buying in. We have a name for that.

@BluzPower @BonafideCherise TIR metrics really rely on the use of a CGM to read blood glucose every 5 minutes, otherwise theres no real way to know whats going on. I know the SOP for T2 is often just a few checks a day, but I bet you'd be surprised what your BG is actually doing all day!

@applehat @BonafideCherise Thanks. I’m assuming there are ways to calculate TIR if one doesn’t test blood glucose levels often during the day.

What would you say to an HCP that works in an endocrinologist's office who will not give you an insulin pump because you don’t count carbs? However, average TIR of 86%.

@BluzPower @BonafideCherise Because a 6.5 A1C could mean I stay flat at 140mg/dl always, or that I swing super high and then have mega lows -- and it averages out to a concentration of around 140. TIR shows how much time I'm _actually_ staying in range.

@BluzPower @BonafideCherise So "range" is generally a target defined like that, yeah. Generally I see people use 80-180mg/dl. TIR then, is a percentage of time you spend inside that range -- and some consider it a better marker for success then A1C. 1/2

@get_jasmine Now that I have a computer do all my dosing for me, boluses that big scare me.. even tho realistically my ratio is like 1:6 so if I eat anything remotely carby I end up with that much insulin as well. Lol

@MarCNuf @imtoosweet1d Does she not realize the special powers she holds over her classmates? I absolutely flaunted my diabetes in school. Heck, I had an early smart phone (Sidekick) and I even blamed any notification sound it gave on diabetes. I had unlimited technology and "eat anytime" powers.
