Toda música folclórica nace de mezcla, influencia o herencia previa. Lo que la define no es la pureza de origen, sino lo que un pueblo hace con ella: cómo la transforma, la vuelve suya, la consolida y la convierte en identidad.
La bomba, la plena, el flamenco, el son cubano, la salsa, el blues, el jazz, el reggae, el rock, el hip hop, los corridos, la norteña, la cumbia y cientos de géneros más también nacen de cruces culturales. El reggaetón no es la excepción.
