@pitchblacksteed “I would advise you to make the explanation you are about to give… *phenomenally* good.”
And every time someone says “stranger things have happened” I have an urge to reply “that horse becoming Pope, for one”. But sadly I don’t think anyone would get it. Niche quote.

To many of us, #Blackadder is part of every day parlance. Which phrases from the show do you use yourself and when you do you use them? Example: When someone offers me a cup of tea, I say: "Yes, immediately!" You get the idea. Will RT the best ones.

English
@bushontheradio Bloody hell. Whatever happened to normal banter and conversation? Looking at the replies to this you’d think you’d personally insulted their mum and the rest of their families.
English
@CWilksy_78 @TheGreenParty You’re welcome to do so. But you also then have to stick to the position that the other posts are also not fact. Which is fine, at least then you’re consistent. 🤷🏻♂️
English
@CWilksy_78 @TheGreenParty If you’re sticking to that position, so is everyone who claims billionaires are necessary for tax revenues. So it cancels out. Thread finished. 🙂
English
@arafel2 @TheGreenParty So if you don’t have the figures your comment is a moot point.
English
@Heccles94 You missed one, follower but I wouldn’t class as a friend (since I’ve not met you/interacted enough).
English
@emmybooth It’s definitely got that reputation. What is it about Patreon that’s limiting? Folks might be able to suggest some alternatives if we know what the problems are.
English
@metheon14178339 @TheGreenParty Yes, I think you’re probably right given HMRC data says the top 1% of income tax payers (those earning above £180k or so) contribute around 28-30% of all income tax. But that’s a long way from “billionaires fund everything and if you tax them they’ll run away”.
English

@arafel2 @TheGreenParty The top 10% of earner, those making more than roughly £70,000 a year, are responsible for over £6 out of every £10 collected in income tax.
English
@CWilksy_78 @TheGreenParty Nobody does, for taxes collected from billionaires. But there are only around 150-165 billionaires in the UK. Even if each one paid, £10 million a year in personal tax that’s around £1.5-£1.6 billion total. UK total tax receipts are around £1 trillion, so that’s a rounding error.

@UnionJacked__ You may (or may not) have a point, but ‘raw’ salaries alone aren’t a valid comparison.

We are a poor country, compared to the US. People literally think £45k is “well off”. It most certainly isn’t.

JUST IN: New analysis reveals Brits thought the UK ranked 7th against US states in income per person — it actually ranked 51st.
English
@ZackPolanski The number of people on here who’re arguing we need billionaires for tax revenue, when they generally avoid billions in taxes in the first place, is quite surprising.
