@tnyfrontrow I find that Mr. Klein is politically, artistically & aesthetically more successful at saying a similar thing about indifference. One tries to make a high-ranking Nazi generalisable & the other succeeds with a citizen. Mr. Klein still reflects present society, TZOI thinks it does.
Hometown Prison is immeasurably better than The Zone of Interest; Richard Linklater shows what The Zone of Interest could have been if directed by someone who cares more about the experiences, the people, the subject, and the history than about posturing.
@tnyfrontrow On the train home from Tate Modern’s Philip Guston exhibition—now there’s an artist with a true, towering and unbridled clarity of understanding when it comes to grappling what is meant by the banality of evil.
@metaplexmovies Film criticism could be retitled as “Film Opinion”—this is an opinion. Doesn’t mean you have to agree. Personally, I love Brody and his writing and think he’s certainly one of the strongest critics working today.
Love to see Richard Brody reaching his final form at midnight on a cold Friday, that of the overzealous dad at a sporting event declaring their kid as the greatest player since Jordan, Ali and Ruth, but for BARBIE ascending to one of the greatest films of all time

@Variety Sat through the whole film without once needing to get up — too absorbed and engulfed in its visual mastery and genius to even consider anything else. Genuinely one of the great masterpieces of modern cinema.
Paramount and Apple Original Films have been contacting theaters that violated their contracts by inserting intermissions into Martin Scorsese's “Killers of the Flower Moon,” according to an individual with knowledge of the situation.
The Lyric, a theater in Fort Collins, Colo., showed the historical drama with an intermission until they got in trouble with the two companies. bit.ly/3QmJ71U
With cinematography by Charles Lang Jr. and a hauntingly beautiful score by Bernard Herrmann, THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR ('47) is a poignant love story within a ghost story.
At its heart, it is a film of loneliness and yearning as well as a triumph of independence.
"I saw Ingmar Bergman's 'The Seventh Seal' (1957) & I realized that, of course, all the great filmmakers were in Europe. For about 3 years, I had that sense of snobbism that American films were bad."

TCM is saddened to hear of the loss of the formidable Piper Laurie.
An Emmy winner and Oscar nominee, she gave full-blooded performances as flawed, often ferocious women, in films such as THE HUSTLER and CARRIE.
