@little_pengelly Why is it necessary to bring issues around nationality into your congratulations. If she hadn’t been born in Newry would her achievement not be worth celebrating? Just be happy for her!
A huge congratulations to Kate O’Connor on her wonderful silver medal in the heptathlon at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. Katie was born in Newry and has represented both Northern Ireland and Ireland.
Well done Katie 👏👏
I know it makes a great headline but does anyone really believe that Luke Littler dreamt about the World Championships from the age of 18 months throwing magnetic darts? 🤣🤦🏻 #BBCSport
@mferg1971@BBCMarkSimpson Unfortunately this is true although a bad cyclist is less likely to cause a fatal injury to another road user than a driver of a car, bus or anything else with a combustion engine!
@Kscott_94 I walk out of my office in Bedford St. every evening and looking in both directions there is traffic congestion. Lots of cars with one occupant! Thankfully I jump on my bike and ride home in 20 mins using mainly bus lanes and the Comber greenway.
Interested in your take on the traffic issues in Belfast.
People I have talked to this week have described our public transport as unreliable, expensive, underinvested, and non-flexible.
Who is to blame for the traffic?
Why do you not use public transport ?
How is it fixed ?
@StephenNolan@BBCSounds t’ll be controversial but it’s time that a congestion charge was introduced to Belfast City Centre. Use the revenue raised by that to improve infrastructure and bus and rail services.

"Talk is cheap" - fonaCAB hit out & claim there has been a 2 month delay and silence since Infrastructure Minister O'Dowd announced plan to allow them access to bus lanes

@NewtonEmerson Disappointing re-purposing of the BoI building. Looks like they’ve retained the facade but ripped the rest of it apart. Given the calibre of the design team I’d have expected better.
@CyclingDown@StephenNolan Probably the cycle lane had to be installed to comply with a planning condition as part of the approval of the social housing scheme beside it. Absolute nonsense. #nojoinedupthinking
@StephenNolan In fairness it’s a stretch to call that a cycle lane with the kerb just ahead. Painted lines might suggest otherwise but needs some work to be safe for cyclists.
The PSNI speed van pushing pedestrians onto a cycle lane or right to the edge of a tiny slip on the busy Knock Carriageway, while they take up the entire footpath at side of cycle lane. Imagine a mum or dad with a kid each side of them. The PSNI position themselves right at the point 30mph hits 40mph
So Belfast! @Translink_NI are just about to finish a state of the art Transport Hub. A fabulous 21st century building to provide a base for a 19th century transport system. That’s maybe a little unfair but given that it’s us the taxpayers paying for it I think we deserve better!
So Belfast! Waterboys live at Custom House Square tonight. Absolutely brilliant. Tried to go home. No buses in Belfast after 10pm on a Sunday @Translink_NI@BelfastGlider. Unbelievable. This is supposed to be a modern European city!
