My kid and her friends saw an obviously neglected Bassett Hound being discarded by its handler at the dog park in Brooklyn today. Please read the GoFundMe and if you can help, it would be very much appreciated. gofundme.com/f/abandoned-do…

@TantamKate In the hospital for 9 weeks in 1995. I still remember most of my nurses, was so grateful for their passion. On the vent floor in week 9, I went back to the ICU to meet my main nurse. I remembered her like she was an old, dear friend. I knew innately she fought for my survival.

I am so worried for these patients. And I can’t help but think about heir short would be so different if they had just got their vaccine. I know we have too many ARDS patients as it is, but keep thinking the CoVID ARDS cases can be preventable. I am so sad for those w #ARDS
English

As President of ARDS Foundation, those I have been hearing from recently in ARDS crisis are people who have NOT gotten the CoVID vaccines, got CoVID, then ARDS and are critically ill, fighting for their life. Please - it is so important to get your vaccine. @ArdsGlobal

@carsueb @ArdsGlobal @DrDaleNeedham Exactly! And do not talk in front of the patient negatively, or as if they don't exist while in the room.
English

@ardsfoundation @ArdsGlobal @DrDaleNeedham I think this is important. Talk to the patient. Always assume the patient can hear and take in what’s being said.

@carsueb @ArdsGlobal @DrDaleNeedham This behavior may not be intentional but if medical staff treat a sedated patient as if they are alert, there can be potentially beneficial results, as medically induced coma patients are taking things in. The communication can make a substantial difference.
English

@ArdsGlobal @DrDaleNeedham After reviewing, I don’t think this behavior is INTENTIONAL. If the patient is not alert, communication is not really possibly and will not be of real quality. Present family members are scared. Their loved one is so unwell. How can quality communication take place?

ARDS Community: I am happy to announce that I was able to get my first CoVID vaccine this afternoon.
I urge all ARDS survivors who are able to, to get your vaccine, unless there is a medical reason that you should not. Eileen

When I was first out of the hospital after 9 weeks from #sepsis and #ARDS, I remember always thinking "2 steps forward, 1 step back." I kept my expectations reasonable and never got too upset over lack of progress. #VoiceOfArds #FightingForEveryBreath #ICU

We just had another Covid-19 support group for families. A key point-things change quickly-patients rapidly improve only to crash or take 3 slow steps forward and 2 steps back. Families who cope effectively try not to get too "high" on "good" days or too "low" on "bad" days.
