My last pre Everest work is done, a keynote talk in Italy, it’s now game time!!!
Tomorrow the ‘Twins’ and I head out of LHR bound for Kathmandu!!
To say I’m excited is an understatement!
#Everest#Nepal#Himalaya
@arena_mountain It is, but the bookcloth is even fancier and the paper is heavier. The design is better, I’ve improved my CYMK editing and I’ve gone to town on the maps!
So yes. The same but better!
I'm excited to announce that my new book The Great Wilderness is available for preorder through my website!
If you'd like to support my work and preorder a copy I would greatly appreciate it.

RTs also appreciated!
A thread...
Which are your favourite images of the Scottish Highlands captured by another photographer? Which photographs have really stayed with you?
I'll start with this one from @SimonAtkinson89simonatkinsonphotography.com
That’s only 1115 kcal of food (plus milk in my tea) but I’m so full I could not imagine eating more. I wonder if this will persist? Very unexpectedly early satiety.
McDonald’s experiment day 4. Crazy. I anticipated that 18 beef patties/day at least would be needed to eat to satiety. I ate 9 for breakfast earlier but can only face another 3 for dinner. Struggling with satiety big time! /1
@davemacleod09 Is there any cook books that you can recommend. I am very unimaginative and would have had a ham sandwich with these ingredients. It would really help to have some ideas. Thanks
A recent lunch of mine. Meat, eggs, fruits, vegetables. Most of my meals are like this. Most agreement is that modern ultra processed food is harmful for brain and body. Still disagreement as to mechanisms. /9
Speaking to 8-12yr olds in Edinburgh at the launch of @brainhealthscot programme to encourage young people to learn to look after their brain health. A thread on what I said... /1
@PressScottish saw the new Tom Patey book which looks great. I appreciate that it’s all about the contents but does the book physically have the same look and feel as the Fox of Glencoe? Thanks
@RoamMtns I was wondering what you meant when you said you landed short and then realised that you were in a help. Much better to stop first and then land!
Challenging flying conditions into Lukla today. We landed a bit short because it became too challenging and we were more than happy to walk a bit further.
Big day today 🎉 as I completed all the Swiss 4000ers as part of an all-female climbing team by climbing a Täsch-Dom traverse with Tania. Thanks @MontaneOfficial for all the support.
⛰Thank you to everyone who came along for Mòruisg, my final Munro, today. It meant a lot!
We couldn’t have asked for better weather. 🙌
It’s been some journey the last 5 years! I have so much love for Scotland - what an amazing, amazing country we live in. 🏴❤️

@townsendoutdoor Thanks for sharing. I have a mirror less camera that I take along with my phone and if it’s a “good” scene then I take out my big camera but some situations eg low light then the IPhone performs better or I lack the skills with big camera
@WalkWithWallace The Adventure Podcast. Don’t let the morbid cello music at the start pit you off. Always Another Adventure is good and I like Cool Conversations with Kenton Cool. Go Mountain Goats is more geared towards fell running but has some good stuff.
🔊 Can anyone recommend some good British based outdoors podcasts to listen to on Google? So far I've got:
- Paths in the outdoors
- Outdoors in Scotland
- Mountain Air
- The Outdoors Station
- Mountain (no new material 😔)
