@smallbizguy0 Agreed, when leads are missed/unanswered, they move on to your competitor.
What are you using for automated follow ups?
English

@cyrusfba that's cool, very excited to see your automation journey on X that will help others, too. Btw, If you need any assistance happy to help!
English

@arhamdotai Anything that is possible, which I’m finding almost everything is with OpenClaw now.
Reverse engineering the shit I hate doing and teaching AI to do it for me.

Upselling is one of the easiest ways to add revenue to your business and you’re probably ignoring it.
For example, if you’re a pressure washing / window cleaning business and you’re on-site, call the client:
"We noticed your gutters are a bit dirty. Since we’re here, would you like us to take care of them? Just $100 add-on since there's no travel fee."
Simple. Easy revenue. Minimal effort.
English

@pjmcgeary That's awesome. Despite having a great team what systems are helping to operate your biz remotely?
English

Back home after a 4 day trip to Boston from Saturday to Tuesday night.
While I was gone, here’s what happened:
59 cleanings
$16,181 in revenue
12 new 5-star reviews
5-6 new bookings
Very limited involvement on my end on all of this.
I tweet a lot about not being where I want to be because I’m a psycho.
But truthfully, the team we’ve built is fantastic and my business could just about run itself already.
Feels good to be back in the driver’s seat though, I have a higher level to-do list to work at and I’m almosttttt there.
English

@cyrusfba That's interesting! what operations are you automating in your cleaning biz?
English

@arhamdotai Automating my cleaning company haha. Had to switch the model to haiku for the error to go away
English

@cyrusfba This might be due to agents failing, what are you building Zack?
English

@arhamdotai This specifically is an issue my openclaw has been giving me today
English

@cleanwithmike What automations are you running right now?
English

@Matt_Mayer263 Sorry to hear that, What are the best ways to make prices competitive?
English

Closed Lost - way overbid on this which is unfortunate
I have a solid amount of walkthrough data and at this point it is abundantly clear that my current structure just can't compete on large commercial buildings
Back to the drawing board
Matt Mayer@Matt_Mayer263
Completed this walkthrough today and after lumping the common area cleaning (~40 hours weekly) and the turn cleans together this is easily a $80k+ per year account. Quote getting sent out tomorrow morning and decision likely by Thursday. Would be a huge win.
English

@cyrusfba Keep Growing Zack, so much to learn from you!

March 2026 was my biggest month in my cleaning business.
Revenue: $21,161.85
Labor: $10,113.81
Gross Profit: $11,048.04 ✅
*I did not make $11k, that number is just after labor costs*
My goal for this month was $15k, I soared past it. After being stuck at the $12-$15k mark for about 8 months this is such a blessing and I am so grateful. Crossed the $10k MRR mark for the first time
First full month in my second cleaning business as well which did $2k in revenue.
Starting April 2026 with $14,209.59. Excited for what's to come. Foot on the gas.

In less than 2 years since I started the business, we have:
700+ 5 star reviews total
500+ Google 5 star reviews
Highest rated service in our metro area
To accomplish this, behind the scenes we have:
1 full time VA (absolute rockstar)
1 full time me😅
Next goal: $50K recurring and $85K total rev by July 21st.
The next sprint is on, 100% effort and no stone unturned.

@ToddLlewellyn I agree humans are better at communication than AI.
But what if there is an AI system that nurtures leads, captures and follows up 2x the speed, keeping the people in the first line.
Will that create more efficiency?
English

@irentdumpsters Really appreciate this no-BS breakdown
What home-service businesses are you seeing with cleaner unit economics and fewer of these headaches right now?
Really looking forward to the businesses you like.
English

5 home service businesses everyone on the internet glorifies that i would never touc.....
Pressure washing. You and every other guy who watched a "start a business with $500" video on YouTube. There are 40 dudes in your city with a truck and a Home Depot machine charging $99 for a driveway. You're not building a business. You're fighting teenagers for table scraps.
Junk removal. Same energy. Low barrier means every market is flooded. Your customer calls 3 companies, picks the cheapest, and you're hauling a moldy couch in August heat for $180. Half goes to the dump fee. Congrats on your $90.
Landscaping. You grind from March to October then sit on your hands for 4 months watching your savings disappear. Your best crew guy quits in June because the company across town offered him $2 more an hour. Good luck replacing him mid-season.
General contracting. Sounds great until a homeowner holds your $45K payment because they "aren't happy with the tile grout color." You floated materials, you paid your subs, and now you're begging someone to release YOUR money while they nitpick every detail for 3 months.
Roofing. Big revenue numbers. Tiny bank account. You're floating $200K in materials and labor praying the insurance carrier pays you before your credit line maxes out. One slow season and you're laying off half your crew.
The businesses i like...?
coming soon

I will tell you what has driven my early (and fledgling) success …
Understanding how to connect with people.
Business / cash flow / sales stems not from your degree or even your pedigree.
People care about feeling valued and getting good results.
Figure that out and you will be massively ahead of the spreadsheet bros (as a recovering spreadsheet bro).
Will Fry@BuySellSMB
Search fund bros will do everything except learn how to run a business

@BlakeHamrock @pjmcgeary This problem is solvable via N8N and Airtable without getting into complex automations systems.
If you have furthermore questions, shoot me a dm.
English

If someone (aka another service business owner) can help me answer this, I’ll love you forever.
How do you manage your leads at scale and make sure nothing falls through the cracks WITHOUT having something clunky and over-automated like GHL?
For example, you get leads in one day from:
-FB message
-FB ad form submission
-Website form submission
-Phone call
-Text referral
***My question is this — what system do you use to make sure all of those leads are being entered into a follow up cadence if they are not booked immediately?***
We’ve been doing this manually (and I’m doing a lot of the heavy lifting by managing the pipeline and making sure our team doesn’t miss anything) but I know for a fact I need to use some sort of automation to systemize all of this.
I’ve been an absolute hound on this and it’s made me a lot of money, but I know to get my time back and to continue scaling I need to shift at least a little bit.
