Taylor Swift literacy in the community is next level. There’s almost not a person in the country that seemingly can’t describe their specialty with reference to Swiftian concepts.

Could someone in TV news production explain the benefit of the interview with non-witness/not-connected-to-victim neighbours to say things like “it’s terrible what happened to that lady” & “I came out & saw police cars”?

📣Today in "why are librarians & archivists important": we had an enquiry about a book that I couldn't find anywhere (not just in the Library, but even *existing* 🤨). So I asked the enquirer where their reference came from. They'd used #ChatGPT to ask about an 18thC ancestor...

Is there an established ethical line for these bots? Or will each bot publish their rules and goals.

@arjrama is anyone thinking about the manipulation of us humans by the chat ai models. When I use a chat interface to a travel booking type application. Will the Icelandic Tourist Board be paying for the bot to talk me into a Reykjavik stopover on my London to New York flight?

Last day as a journalist after 26 years. I had a terrific run (never made redundant!). I lived in three countries, visited many more, watched history being made, learned heaps about life, Korea, the UK, Australia, war, IT and #infosec. But it's time for change and new challenges.

First thing today, I caught a mouse. For weeks, Ted the cat was on the case. Today, a wild scuffle at 3 AM. I cornered mouse. Mouse said "Eek!" and hopped into the bowl. Mouse was safely released in the bush. Ted was disappointed, but he's now back to destroying the yellow chair.

Great write up - esp. the call-out about the need for enforcement to buy time to lift defences. “One of the chief concerns … is the dramatic surge in cyberattacks and time and resources required to improve defences against them. It’s a long-term proposition, not a quick fix.”
The Saturday Paper@SatPaper

Insiders say hackers exploited a basic flaw in Medibank’s security. It’s part of a dramatic surge in attacks that’s forcing authorities to step up the hunt for cybercriminals offshore, writes @SquigglyRick satpa.pe/medib30bfd7
