VIDEO | Chandigarh: Advocate Arjun Sheoran says, "We approached the court after reports emerged in the national media that two FIRs had allegedly been registered by Punjab Police against my client and AAP MP Sandeep Pathak. We were not informed about the sections invoked, the allegations, or the districts involved. We approached the court seeking details and copies of any FIRs, or confirmation if none existed. There have been three hearings so far, on the 8th, 11th and today, the 15th. Even today, the government said it had no instructions on whether any FIR had been registered. We told the court that this amounts to playing hide and seek. The order dated the 8th had clearly directed the authorities to provide information regarding the FIRs, but that has still not been done. The government again sought time, and the matter has now been listed for May 22. The interim order restraining any coercive action without the court’s permission has also been continued." Chandigarh: Advocate Arjun Sheoran, counsel for MP Sandeep Pathak, on the hearing related to a petition filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court says, “See, on May 2nd and 3rd, we received news from many places that two FIRs have been filed against us. And when we sent a legal notice to the DGP Punjab and other authorities, including the Principal Secretary (Home) on May 3rd, for confirmation, there was no response. That’s why we had to come to this High Court and our plea to the Court was to either inform us about these two or more FIRs filed against us, and if such FIRs exist, to provide us with copies and protect us until we apply for bail, etc...The Judge has written in his order that until you take permission from the Court, you will not arrest them or take any coercive action. This is until the next hearing, which is scheduled for Monday..."

If there is one piece you read today, let it be this one by @itihaasnaama and @OrnitShani - their new book is already out in India. It establishes the idea of 'we the people' at the core of the making of the Indian constitution, beyond the four walls of the constituent assembly.

Why Every Indian Trial Judge Must Have a Law Clerk/LR 1. Nearly 90% of the 5 Crore cases pending in India - sit in the trial courts — the first and, often, the only layer of the judicial pyramid that most citizens ever personally encounter.

Dear friends, good morning. This is probably the most important post and study that you will need to focus on today. This is important for you. For your children. We at Mission for Ethics and Science in Healthcare (MESH), your defenders of public health, spent close to ₹500,000 ($5,953) analysing 134 commonly prescribed and over-the-counter consumed Homeopathic formulations in the Indian market. Here is what we found. Here are the manufacturers/ companies named in the paper (by product category): [1] Classical dilutions: Bakson, Similia, Willmar Schwabe, Homco (this is Kerala State Government's state public-funded Homeopathy manufacturing company!!!), Reckeweg, ADEL. [2] Mother tinctures: Bakson, Bjain, SBL, Similia, Willmar Schwabe. [3] Proprietary syrups/pills: Bakson, Fourts, IG Homeo, Lords, Medysnth, SBL, Schwabe Ger (Biofungin), Similia, St George, Trust Pharma, Wheezal, Willmar Schwabe... and so much more. [4] Also included: 18 practitioner‑prepared/unlabelled tablets and powders (no manufacturer declared). 👉The Take‑Home Message Our un-biased, self-funded independent lab analysis of 134 “homeopathic” products sold in India found mostly alcohol, sugars and a stew of undisclosed chemicals—including heavy metals, insect/animal parts and industrial solvents—while offering no proven medicinal ingredient. 👉Alcohol, Not Medicine Classical dilutions—the drops doctors hand out most—were essentially pure ethanol: median 91.02% v/v, peaking at 96.32%. Mother tinctures that are bottled original formulations that Homeopaths prescribe and ask patients to dilute and consume averaged 62.37% alcohol. None of this is dosed scientifically, and labels often omit or underplay the alcohol content. 👉Heavy Metals on the Spoon Lead contaminated 52% of so-called “ultra‑diluted” classical Homeopathy "medicines." Mother tinctures carried arsenic (3.11 mg/kg in one product), mercury (15.6%), and lead (65.6%). Even branded proprietary syrups and pills had arsenic (6.7%), mercury (26.7%), cadmium (3.3%) and lead (23.3%). This is not medicine, this is plain fraud on the people. 👉Toxic Cocktails & Creepy Additives Products contained 371 unique chemicals (up to 80 in a single syrup). Examples: cough syrups with dissolved cockroaches, ocean sponges and cactus in alcohol; solvents used in paints and cleaners; pharmaceutical intermediates, industry-grade chemical are sold are "healthy tonics" and "drugs" for children and adults. 👉Mislabelling and Zero Standardization Measured alcohol often exceeded what was printed on the bottle (e.g., Tone Aid Plus 64.85% vs 40%). Our study documents wild variability and undisclosed compounds across batches and formulations—clear markers of a broken, unregulated manufacturing pipeline. 👉Why This Matters for India’s Public Health When taxpayer money is used to promote and advertise “remedies” that are essentially high‑proof alcohol, sugars, heavy metals and random toxins, the Government is subsidizing harm and placebo—while real needs (vaccines, antibiotics, ICU beds, mental health, primary care) go underfunded. The study gives regulators and policymakers hard data to justify shutting down Homeopathy funding. It is an utter waste of everyone's time and money. 👉The Policy Call We show with objective evidence that these products can and do cause serious harm—liver failure, kidney injury, cardiovascular events—and are riddled with undisclosed, potentially toxic chemicals. Public funds should not be used on pseudoscience dressed up as medicine. Defund homeopathy and redirect that money to evidence‑based primary care, prevention, and drug safety surveillance. ☠️SUCH A WASTE: The Indian government's interim budget for 2024-25 allocated Rs 3,712.49 crore to the Ministry of Ayush (the apex pseudoscience and unscientific "healthcare" promoter in the country). The budget also outlines allocations for autonomous bodies, including the Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (Rs 144 crore). ☂️Bottom line: Stop paying for alcohol- and toxin-laced dangerous so-called placebos. Invest in healthcare that actually saves lives. Homeopathy is plain and simple - RECKLESS FRAUD. NOT GENTLE HEALING. Full paper (free to read/download/share): journals.lww.com/md-journal/ful… PS1: This paper was also presented by @arifhussaintm and chosen as an important and influential study by The European Association for Study of Liver (EASL) for The Liver Congress, their Official Annual Meeting in 2025. PS2: The paper contains lot of supplemental files that disclose all the major Homeopathy brands and their full details of product analysis for public to see and download. For example this link shows all the purchased products and their details -links.lww.com/MD/P462 …there are so many such supplementary files with detailed data in them.

Veteran Actor Naseeruddin Shah was viciously targeted by the IT CELL hideous troll army, ridiculed & abused after his FB post in support of Diljit Dosanjh followed by his post being taken down by the platform. In response He has penned a piece - "The Country I Miss". Plz Do Read & Share. 🙏🏾 Quoting the end part - "I was born in India into the fifth generation of a Muslim family, my wife into an even older Hindu one and we hope our children can be a combination of the best of both. My father refused to go to Pakistan when his brothers left, he was certain India had a future for us just as I feel it does for my offspring. This is a dream that cannot be abandoned. If this is taken to be a justification of my Facebook post (which has been taken down, not deleted by me) in support of Diljit Dosanjh, so be it. But the fact is I need to justify nothing. I said whatever I had to say and I stand by it. Nor am I discouraged by the lack of support from the film industry. I wasn’t expecting any - they all either have too much to lose or they disagree. And to the trolls, particularly the one who said to me “Pakistan nahin ab kabristaan”, I can only quote Jigar Moradabadi: “Mujhe de na ghaiz mein dhamkiyaan, giren lakh baar ye bijliyan, Meri saltanat yehi aashiyaan, meri milkiyat yehi chaar par. (Don’t threaten me in anger, let lightning strike a thousand time, My nest is my domain, these four feathers all I own).”

@theliverdoc The NCISM which was set up under the 2020 Act has no power to regulate practitioners of modern medicine, such as you. This is a gross misuse and misreading of the provision pertaining only to persons who practice such so called Indian systems of medicine which you clearly do not

Dear friends, the Indian government is unleashing its highest regulatory bodies through the National Council for Indian Systems of Medicine to shut me up and prevent me from educating the public on harms of alternative medicine and unscientific and pseudoscientific healthcare practices through social media. Please read this and let me know your thoughts? I'm gearing up. The Constitution of India allows me to uphold public health and healthcare education. "The Indian Constitution recognizes the importance of scientific temper through Article 51A(h), which states that it is the fundamental duty of every citizen to develop scientific temper, humanism, and the spirit of inquiry and reform. This provision highlights the need for a rational and inquisitive mindset, encouraging citizens to embrace science and critical thinking."

Dear friends, an update and a request. A bit long, but stay with me. Since I have been actively educating the public on harms of pseudoscientific practices such as Ayurveda and Homeopathy, I have [in]arguably become India’s most litigated medical doctor and science communicator and the target of multiple civil and criminal defamation suits and police cases from Ayurveda & Homeopathy practitioners, companies and alternative medicine industry. The alternative medicine practitioners, manufacturers and industry as well as government regulators have never disproven my science-backed information that portray them as a public health danger through scientific deliberations. They have no evidence to show for the benefits they claim and have never provided scientific debates to prove me wrong. Through objective evidence generation, me and my team have always shown how dangerous alternative medicine products and practices are on the public and patients. To this extent, we have spent tens of lakhs of rupees from our own pockets to analyse and publish large body of evidence on AYUSH practices and liver damage in reputed journals. The only way the alternative medicine community knows how to respond, is to gag the science communicator through legal harassments and expensive litigations. They do this purposefully to drain me out of money. As a monthly salaried medical doctor, with debts, loans and EMIs, it is now difficult for me to handle these suits on my own - because the Ayurvedic community has been systematically targeting me with harassment litigations from all corners of the country, and most so, from my State, Kerala. I have kind and good lawyers who have provided me counsel pro-bono on many occasions, but some lawsuits take long time to come to their conclusion. And the number of lawsuits are building up. This means multiple hearings and lot of work from the lawyers including documentation, travel and representation and it is only right, that I pay them for their services. Until now, including the largest lawsuit that I am fighting out with Himalaya Company, I have spent around 16 lakh rupees (USD 18,700) over the last 4 years battling these legal suits and replying to legal notices from all over India. I don't fight health misinformation for myself, but for the people and for my patients. As a doctor, I do not confine myself to outpatient work and enjoy my life inside a comfortable bubble like most other practitioners do, instead, I get outside, on the ground and fight for my patients, their families and you, the people. My passion is public health education and promotion of scientific temper in the society so that we can progress as a strong nation. I understand that because of my work, alternative medicine industry has faced loss of business, but that was never my real focus. My focus was that person or that patient, who was not mislead into trying an unscientific practice and damaging their health or worsening their pre-existing disease. I win, we win, if we can save one life - If we can prevent one poor person's money loss because of what we do. In a country like India, poverty is just a hospital bill away and preventive medicine is the right way to go. In this context, for the time being, I am asking you, the public if you would like to be part of my battle against health misinformation and promotion of scientific temperament? If so, I will be happy and obliged if you can donate to this cause that impacts all of us and our future. For now, I have activated the "TIPS" facility on Twitter for your kind contributions and me and my team are looking to develop a platform where the public can contribute to legal battles - for science, and also towards public health projects under the banner of the society that I am part of - MESH (Mission for Ethics and Science in Healthcare). Even such platforms take time and money to develop. The TIPS feature is active at the top of my profile. I hope we can do this together. Unfortunately, it is just me, doing the "needful dirty" work, for a price to pay and I wish there were more "Liver Docs" to ease my burden. Maybe in the future. Below, are the current court cases that I am battling in various Courts due to defamation litigation from various Ayurveda industry, and their current status. I will update this post with more on existing cases outside Kerala and new cases as they come in. I hope I can count on your gracious monetary support. Thank you for reading this and for your support. Best, The Liver Doc.
