@tanmaym2014 There is a way to read as well bud. Are u saying Ian Bishop is going to every ground , tracking down non descript youngsters in nets and bringing them to the people? Then you are mad! And if you are saying Ian should be given credit for his research that is evident in the post.

There is way to write, it's clearly visible your frustration for people acknowledging Bishop, to appreciate someone we don't need to belittle others, you have said you all for the credit to Ian Bishop, but you didn't mean it, that's the difference.
Joy Bhattacharjya@joybhattacharj

I am all for the credit given to Ian Bishop for the research he puts into the junior cricketers. But he's reading up and giving you stories written by reporters in the front lines who have travelled to the small venues, interviewed aspiring cricketers in locations around the country and really put in the hard yards. To not credit the likes of @PurnimaMalhotra, @pratyush93_raj, @captainshanky and so many others while acknowledging Bish's efforts in reading up on them from the stories written by these reporters is a bit surprising. Every one of these stories are being heard on air because a reporter went and chased it down. Please do give them the credit they deserve.

@ovshake42 @joybhattacharj Some are really working hard in front of the mirror as the evidence suggests. That carefully curated hair treatment from a particular country coming to the fore for a lot of them.

Given how professional Ian Bishop is, I am pretty much sure he will start doing this. (I am not being sarcastic here. I am appreciating both Bishop’s professionalism AND the hard work put in by the reporters. Cricket needs both.)

@ovshake42 Abhishek, he does not need to. All I ask is the people who credit him on social media also appreciate the fact that someone has gone to a lot of trouble to research and report the story. They deserve some credit and praise as well.

@joybhattacharj @ShashiTharoor @Ram_Guha I think my generation of quizzers (currently late 30s/early 40s) are just at the cusp of career notoreity. Pretty confident there are a few folks out there who will give tough competition to the seniors.

Quiz teams who went on to stellar careers! @ShashiTharoor and Ramu Damodaran, former diplomat, ambassador & UN Communications director represented St. Stephen's with great success in the 70s. @Ram_Guha must also have teamed up with Shashi at some point in that period. @NandanNilekani & @Jairam_Ramesh were a star turn for IIT Bombay around the same time. And in the first Quiz Time presented by @babubasu in 1985 - former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan and Jayant Sinha, the former MOS for Finance and Civil Aviation represented IIT Delhi. In that same season @sardesairajdeep represented St. Xavier's Mumbai.
Jairam Ramesh@Jairam_Ramesh

I still remember the quiz at Hindu College in mid-December 1974. The question was who was the only British PM to have been assassinated. Nandan and I were foxed. I took a wild guess and said Robert Peel. The answer was wrong and the other teams also didn’t know. The quiz master threw the question open to the audience. Prompt boomed in a shout from the back: Spencer Percival 1812. The answer was right and it came from none other than Shashi Tharoor. Ram Guha was in the audience and we have shared memories of this quite often.

@PaushaliSahu They use to call it "Sachin Katta'r" gaan if i remember correctly. We were also encouraged to listen to legendary Ram Kumar Chattopadhyay and later his son Sreekumar. Remember his song "no one with you" or "kader kuler bou" was my Baba's favorite.

SD Burman had a deep love for Bangla folk, Bhatiyali and devotional music (bhaav sangeet) from Bengal. Khol was one of his favourite percussion instruments which is traditionally used in keertan. SDB used it in mainstream Hindi cinema songs, imparting a soul of rural Bengal in them...

@PaushaliSahu Beatiful! I am told it was Kercy Lord's suggestion to RD to introduce Maadal. The effect is fantastic. Remember, his father SD Burman introduced the Khol (terracota drum) in Jaane kya Tune Khi in Pyaasa.

@PaushaliSahu There was a customary Illayaraja detour and found bass was used quite a lot contrary to what my ears kept suggesting because of the sound mediums available to us then. Philips tape recorders.

@PaushaliSahu Then heard thiruda thiruda the same way and realized a musical evolution had already happened from RD to AR. More instruments , complex arrangements came forth. Taal as an album was a treasure box to go through.

It's a rainy day in Kolkata and I'm hearing Lata ji songs ...'Tere bina jiya jaye na' is playing and how can I not think of the genius that RD Burman was! He used maadal - a percussion instrument - for harmony (using chords) 😯, and Spanish guitar, a melody instrument for beat(Taal)😯 The genius of Pancham da 😎🔥

This habit of well off Indians, including the decent ones, including my family, To do chindi choori and bargaining with poor people, bhaji wala, house cleaners, for measly few hundred to few thousand rupees, when you are spending 5k on a single restaurant visit, fucking pisses me off big time. Ghatiya loog. Ghatiya culture. The richer the filthier. Chee.

Happy birthday daddy. Both pictures feature both you and ma, but that's how it's always been, we never could imagine one without the other. You gave us a wonderful childhood and ridiculously high relationship standards. And as hard as we your children may try, that irritating moral compass you bequeathed us is almost impossible to get away from...

#ZAYN mentioned his song ‘Nusrat’ was named after Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, noting how amazing his voice is especially during live performances. He mentions how Jeff Buckley was inspired by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and how he loved listening to Pakistani music.
