Poker players don’t try stuff anymore.
There’s so much shame and guilt and fear around doing something that is considered “bad” or “dumb” that people are all too terrified to go with a read and trust their gut in big moments when they sense that something is off.
The thing is:
It’s all built on one idea.
That if you try something and then it goes terribly wrong, you won’t be able to handle it—the people talking about you, making fun of you, your own mind calling yourself dumb, all that good stuff.
But, what if that wasn’t true?
What if you could handle everything that came with trying something that felt right and having it not go your way?
What if it hurt, but you were able to move on?
Can you see how much new potential this could unlock for you, to be able to do this and go for what you want when basically all of your opponents are stuck playing the same vanilla strategies from a place of not wanting to lose?
In reality, it’s up to you.
You get to decide if you want that idea to be true—on whether or not you can handle the pain of going after what you want, and then not getting it.
If that’s the life you want, so be it.
If it’s not?
The next step is to go figure out a way to deal with the stress and anxiety and pressure that comes with the ups and downs of playing poker and constantly making big decisions when emotions are running high.
Then prioritize living in that way.
Take those steps, and life all of a sudden starts to look different.
Instead of doing what you “should,” you do what you want.
Instead of needing to "recover," you just keep going, feeling totally fine.
Instead of sulking away and stewing inside on your own?
You speak up and say what needs to be said.
And instead of wondering “what if,” you sleep well at night—no questions left unanswered.
